We (a family of four adults) visited Datong and Pingyao as part of a 10-day tour in China. We arrived from Beijing by train and Jonathan, our tour guide, picked us up at the train station with his driver, Mr. Zhang. We stayed overnight at a hotel in Datong and visited the Grottos and Hanging Temple the next day. Jonathan... More

Jonathan from Pingyao tours put together a bespoke 3 day tour of Pingyao and the surrounding areas. We didnt want to cycle, so we had a driver and didnt have to worry about anything. He helped with advice on accommodation as well, and took extra care of us (we have some allergy issues with certain foods). Pingyao is a great... More

We had Jonathan as our tour guide in Pinyao and found him to be very easy to deal with and had a good command of English. He was very knowledgable and enjoyed answering questions.Jonathan is a bright and friendly character that will make every effort to make your tour in Pinyao memorable.

Recently returned from a tour in China where a friend and I visited the Hanging Temple, Grottoes in Datong and the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an. We had a fab time and highly recommend it! We saw the review on here of Jonathan and although he knew his stuff, he wasn't the best guide I've ever had. Long, repetitive emails where... More

I contacted Jonathon after reading all the great reviews on Tripadviser, we were with his tour for four days seeing sites around Datong and Pingyao. We were picked up at Datong railway station by Andy in a airconditioned comfortable van (which we had for the four days) and next morning he took us to the amazing Grottos and to see... More

Months prior to our trip, i found Jonathan's website upon googling about Datong and Pingyao. I was not to sure what to expect and after 20 plus emails, the plan was set and all i had to do was to wait for the day. Upon arriving in Datong's train station (we took an overnight train from Beijing), we were greeted... More

Pingyao is a hidden treasure, I love the fact that tourists don’t seek it as much as other parts of China. Making it a truly authentic experience. We spent two nights there, one day we did our own exploring the next we asked for a guide. Our guide was Jonathan. Hats off to this young man, the best guide I’ve... More

We visited Pingyao earlier this year and really loved it. Jonathan was a fantastic tour guide – very helpful in the lead-up to our trip in terms of customising our itinerary and booking our train tickets back to Beijing. We spent a while discussing our tour as we had a list of places we were interested in seeing but also... More

I visited Pingyao two years ago with my parents and Jonathan was our guide. He was great: his English was excellent, he was very knowledgeable, totally trustworthy and he was genuinely enthusiastic about the sites he showed us. I have since recommended him to other people and no one has been disappointed. Plus, Pingyao is a charming place to visit.... More
