The argument for preserving wetlands is they generate so much life. Bolsa Chica is a perfect example of an environmental rescue. What was once oil production is now a haven for birds small mammals and sea life. Very comfortable flat trails make an excursion a joy. Great photo opportunities.

If you have any liking of birds this is the place for you. One of my most favorite places along the beach for miles and miles. I often go and take a sandwich and sit and watch the goings on out there. It's just a marvelous place...very relaxing.

Discover the birder in you by taking a walk on the trails of the Bolsa Chica Reserve. Come see the majestic blue herons, egrets, plovers, ducks, geese, ibis, stilts and gulls. Walking through the wooded area you can spot rabbits, lizards, snakes and coyotes. On a recent visit, an ambulance was speeding up PCH with sirens wailing. First we heard... More

I go running here at least twice a week. I live just over a mile from here. I can tell you that I've run here in the dark in the light in the sun in the rain and in the fog. It's always a lovely run. The trails are well maintained. You get to see so much wildlife with each... More

This is a hidden treasure in plain sight. Several miles of easy walking trails along which you will see a multitude of different birds depending on the time of day, the tide and the season. There is other marsh life, too, flora as well as fauna. If you look into the water as well as the skies, you will see... More

Bolsa Chica reserve is easy to miss, but is really a remarkably rich wildlife habitat. I'm not a serious birder, but it is hard not to get excited watching a brown pelican fish from six feet away, having to duck my head as it swooped in to dive. We also saw great blue herons, white ibis and many more common... More

Great beach to relax on. There is a board walk for bike rides or longboard skateboarding. There is good surfing along the this beach. You can ride your bike to this beach but all car access is pay to park.

We have walked the ecological reserve for many years. It peaceful and refreshing. There's a lot of different wild life to see. Several months ago we even saw two sharks in the lagoon. Kids love the trip

This is an easy to get to Eco Reserve right off Pacific Coast Hwy in Huntington Beach. There are very easy walking trails and a little bridge that extends to some off the highway trails. Nice to do this first thing in the morning when all the birds are still at the reserve. They seem to migrate elsewhere at sunset.... More
