We were visitors to California and were a bit overwhelmed by the traffic and congestion. A morning spent walking the wetland paths and enjoying the wildlife was a lovely break. There are paths of varying lengths with benches along the way for resting or enjoying the views of the tidal ponds and many shore birds. Take binoculars, if possible.

Walk among the wetlands and see birds, fish and sometimes even dolphins. It is a great walk to take for R and R and for visitors to Orange County. Lots of bird watching, and is always a great time.

This is a lovely spot to get out of your car and up off your posterior and enjoy a beautiul setting and see a variety of wildlife most especially many species of birds. The trails are well maintained and sutable even for stollers or wheelchairs for the most part. There are benches along the way if you want to sit... More

This is the premiere birding location in socal. Here you find a mixture of shore birds, hawks, hummingbirds, owls, etc depending on the season. You see alot of serious birders here with high end camera equipment taking photos, but those with lesser equipment can still capture great photos because the birds are quite used to the human presence. there is... Wonderful walk and fresh air. One can get in from 1 mile to 5 miles depending on the route. Abundant wildlife to see. Parts are paved but much is a dirt trail. One might skip the walk on a rainy day.

We live just over a mile from the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. There are two times to go there, although almost any time is acceptable. Early morning and late afternoon when you have that long sun to create depth shadows on your subjects. Parking just off Pacific Coast Highway is free, although it can get quite congested on weekends. There... More

Love to walk there. You can see all kind of birds and fishes. It's next to the wide open beach and one mile from down town Huntington Beach where you can find the best resturants.

This area is very relaxing to go for a long walk. Loads of bird species which vary depending on the time of year. Interesting historically. I go there several times a year. Easy parking and it's free.

This was a very odd visit for me. To see a wetlands surrounded by oilfields and residences in the middle of a mega populated area was just odd. The trails were well groomed, walking was wonderful. The evening light made for great photography. I was pretty amazed at the sheer the abundance of wildlife i observed in this small reserve.... More
