If you are looking for something different and want to just get away from the TV try a nice long walk at the bolsa chica Ecological Reverve. I always see people with high dollar cameras taking pics of the local widlife...

So beautiful and picturesque. If you come at the right time of year there are tons of birds on migration. One of the few coastal wetlands left in southern california, and a must for anyone who has had it up to here with the fake people on display in downtown Huntington Beach. Come in the evening to catch the sunset.... More

I thoroughly enjoyed the flora and fauna and walking trails in this peaceful setting near the coast. I'm thankful that so many have worked hard to preserve this beautiful place as a nature reserve.

This is a great walking experience! You're lucky if you're able to see the Blue Herring Nests high in the tree. You can see Egrets, seagulls, pelicans, blue herring, and sandpipers just to name a few. It's nice to go when it's a cold day. Then you have the place to yourself. I once walked around and saw many squirrel... More

This is a great path that can be taken by all ages. Sometimes I am able to see pelicans and other birds. There are not many trees for shade so make sure to bring your sunscreen.

I took a trip from Northern California specifically to photograph the birds here. The first morning was somewhat disappointing as it was foggy/drizzly, but I was still happy to see several bird species that I normally don't see up north, just a short distance from the main parking lot. I went back that evening, and it was fantastic! The skimmers... More

This is a place to walk those 10,000 steps. Good for bird watching and photography. There is free parking at the Reserve. There is also another parking area off Warner and PCH. At this facility there is a display of 'nature'. There is only port-a-potties at both of these places.
