The family recently got together for a memorial on the beach. The camp ground has quite a few spaces for RVs and three tent only spaces that are very close to the water. There aren't hook ups for the RVs but there is a dump station on your way out. The campsites each have a wood burning pit with a... More

Strong wind, strong wave and sea birds. I guess it is a good place for surfing. But I don't understand why so many campings in such cloudy weather

So I guess the first thing to point here is that there is one very long beach stretching all around Half Moon Bay but parts of the beach have other names as well to differentiate them. Frances beach is easily accessible (by car) from HMB Main Street. Just find Kelly Avenue and follow it to the end. You will find... More

The beach is large and sandy , but there are very few amenities around and nothing else on the beach, ie cafes.

The desire of my kids was to play in the Tide Pools. We found some wonderful Tide Pools (thank you google and tripadvisor) at Half Moon Bay, looked up tide schedules and off we went. It was great fun and the area was beautifully kept and easy to access. We were saddened by the number of people there with buckets... More

The beach charges $10 for parking a car, a bit of a disincentive if you want to make a quick visit just to admire the views. although you may wish to camp here, have a picnic or a barbecue, for me it was to admire the view, the crescent shaped Half Moon Bay stretching along the course.

We tent camped at the campground here. The spaces were not as cramped as other campgrounds and we felt we git some privacy. Our site was right above the beach. Every night the sound of crashing ocean waves lulled us to sleep. The beach itself was scenic, but the waves were rough and not very good for playing in, unless... More

Nice trail above the beach, great sounds of the surf and views of the coastline. They have a herd of goats in fenced areas that are being used to clear vegetation. Really cute to look at and take pictures, especially fun for kids.
