Lovely beach so close to the Bay Area Cities. It can be windy so be prepared. There are many picnic tables. I had no idea you can camp here. That's great. I didn't like the $10 car entrance fee but I guess the State needs to maintain the park somehow. I saw a water fountain but there are no stores... More

The beach is very next ce here. There is a lifeguard and they have clean restrooms. There are also plenty of picnic tables on the bluff

You can park in the neighborhood around to avoid fee and walk 10-15 minute to the beach. It is a family beach so it is crowded on the weekend and does not seem clean. The line for the restrooms can be long. But of you walk more than a mile to the right or left, you can enjoy a nice... More

Bring an umbrella! It's very windy here so you will not feel your skin burning. Also, try to secure a spot in a cove close to where all the stones are, it will keep you from being cold due to the wind. We had a great time!!

We stopped here for sentimental reasons. It's a beautiful place to spend a couple of hours. The waves are too rough (and cold!) for real swimming. There are signs posted about this, and I did not allow my 8-year-old to go more than about knee-deep because I was afraid of the strong undertow pulling him in. It was too cold... More

There are different parts of the beach as you drive up and down the highway in Half Moon bay. The first part of the beach, the state beach, you have to pay $10 to park and it's the only part I found that you had to pay. If I had known, I would have parked on the street and walked... More

We hiked, explored and learned about marine life with a great docent. Highly recommend! Need to be able to walk on rocky slippery shores. Walked through the beautiful preserved coastal forests overlooking the ocean.

Amazing Views and wild drive, there was a lot of traffic to get there and had it not been so highly recommended we most likely would have turned around and so glad we didn't. Parking is a little difficult but the trip is well worth it. So glad we went.

Whenever we visit the Bay Area we end up going to the beach in Santa Cruz, but we decided to give Half Moon Bay a try and we were pleasantly surprised. It only costs $10 to park, but is well worth it. We packed a picnic lunch and ate above the water and then went to the beach. There were... More

This beach was so pleasant. Very clean and easily accessible to the surrounding community, but not hugely accessible so it wasn't overcrowded. We weren't there more than a couple of hours so I am not sure how it would be to spend a day there- probably not that enticing and maybe kind of complicated. It was perfect for a short... More
