Stayed at the Ritz Carlton and checked out the beach. Absolutely gorgeous. Stayed in the fall and water looked a little rough for water sports; did not see any one out on the water although a lot of people walking around on the beach.

Went for a walk on the beach twice today at Half Moon Bay and it was beautiful , waves were crashing, and we had plenty of choices of benches to sit on. Refreshing to the soul.

Not too many restroom facilities. Parking fees apply. Path is paved. Weekends more crowded than weekdays.....and more bicycles. Week days not very crowded. I wouldn't swim here. Beach is clean and not crowded. Sweeping view of breaking waves.

This drive was worth it! We walked the beach down by the Ritz-Carlton and it was breathtaking. Because it was December, it was windy. We just needed a light jacket with a hood and were fine. The waves were gorgeous and the Bay was exactly what you expected in California. I've heard that closer to Sam's Chowder House you can... More

I cannot explain in words the beauty of this quaint little area. It is a must if you are driving down the Pacific Coast highway. We have made this trip twice and will not hesitate to make it again. We stopped and picked up a pizza and had pizza and wine while sitting out on some rocks watching the waves... More

This is one of my favorite coastal places to camp. You know it's popular when you need to reserve a campsite six months in advance! The day side also offers a nice beach and facilities. Both are only one block South of the Hwy 92 / Hwy 1 intersection. Easy to get to and fun in one place.

This is a great beach. It has bathrooms and showers, nice camping areas and quiet. Can get a little windy.

This place made me cry due to its beauty and I am NOT one to cry happy tears! I loved love love this place. We saw huge fully intact sand dollars, washed up jelly fish, amazing rocks, etc...I always wanted to be a marine biologist and had the chance at Stanford and Berkeley which I passed up for irrational things.... Half Moon Bay is a great place to visit. It's a short drive from SF, the peninsula or the South Bay. They beaches are nice, a bit windy sometimes, but overall nice. We have done a few day trips there with our young son. There are several places for a good picnic. The restaurants in the area are also a... More
