Nice little beach in HMB

Very close to HMB Lodge, and with 'hourly' fees, can be cheaper than most of the beaches around HMB.

A natural beach with high, rugged cliffs behind it. Not easy for older people to navigate down, but worth it if you can. Miles of sand and dog friendly, too. Small parking lot get's full at peak times and toilet facilities are basic at best.

Basically it's a great beach with somewhat complicated access, so it comes with pros and cons. On the positive side: - It doesn't get crowded, even on the holidays. - clean and nice, plenty of space to play volleyball - steep cliff - perfect for whale watching - yes, there are whales close by (seasonally, of course) - plenty of... We did not have a lot of time to spend here, but would have spent several hours if we'd been able to. It was so relaxing and the view is great. It was not overcrowded on the day we went, which was a Saturday afternoon, so parking was not an issue. Just make sure you pay! We almost passed the... More

Getting down to this beach was precarious. Very steep and loose soil made for slippery footing. My knee will remember the descent on the first day. Once down on the beach it was a beautiful walk. Lots of sandpipers. We went every day of our 4 day stay at a bnb beach cottage located in the neighborhood at the park's... More

As we were making good time to get to San Francisco it made sense to make various quick stops at Half Moon Bay to experience the beach and admire the views. A nice walk across the beach and great views.

This is a perfect place to pull off the road and either enjoy the beach or coastal trails. Parking is very cheap unlike the state park. The trails are well maintained for walkers, hikers, bikers and four-legged friends. The views are beautiful. You can enjoy the cliff faces, sea, natural flora and fauna. There are benches along the way to... More

We took our Yorkie to this beach and he had a blast running with us and playing in the sand. We kept him on a lease so he would not run into the water. Great views from the cliffs above. Clean beach and very friendly people. Highly recommend.

Pretty beach that allows dogs although it like there wouldn't be much beach left at high tide. Also the surf is a little much for kiddies to get near.

Poplar Beach is found at the western end of Poplar Street in Half Moon Bay. There is ample parking for a small fee. You have access to several miles of paved walking and biking trails along the beautiful Pacific Ocean bluffs. Also, there is access down to the beach, although that is not paved and is steep in some spots.... More
