No oil (recent oil slick further along) long walk, looking for shells and enjoying the scenery and beach. Saw quite a few birds and dogs having fun.

lovely less crowded and the beach goes on forever. Great place for a sunset walk. Disliked the tar, a local regular problem. Dogs are allowed on the beach on leash, Yea!

This is a great beach for a long walk. At least in the off season, for much of the walk, you will be the only person within sight. The pier is also a pleasant diversion. The sand on the beach isn't that pretty, so I'm not sure that I would see this as a beach to sit on. In the... More

It looks like a typical beach park in Southern California until you walk east on the beach past a small hill of tar about a mile from the end of the parking area. There you will be pleasantly surprised by a large group of seals and sea lions resting on rocks very close to the shore. Sometimes they even visit... More

Before our flight home from Santa Barbara (Goleta) Airport, we completed our visit by going to Goleta County Beach. It was a great place to picnic, people watch, stroll on the beach and go kayaking. Paddle Sports Center rents ocean kayaks right at the beach! It was enjoyable to watch a group of swimming enthusiasts meet and head out into... More

I grew up in Goleta and spent years on this beach, so whenever I return for a visit, Goleta Beach is always in my plans. You can picnic on the grassy area, dine in the Beachside Bar and Grill [see review], take a long walk east/south past the slough, or fish off the pier. Bird watching is going to happen... More

I've lived in Goleta for 48 years. I've been coming here since I was five (1969 oil spill). Nice clean beach now, plenty of room, places for kids to play, group and individual picnic areas, bird watching (can't feed the birds, don't want them screwing up plane patterns at the airport). Tons of parking but it does occasionally get full.... More

This is a great place to walk and watch birds. The waves are usually comfortable. The water can be cloudy and there is sometimes tar on the beach

Enjoyed a walk on the beach here. Plenty of room/tables to enjoy a picnic. Nice grassy area along side the sandy beach. Free parking. Pier to wonder out on. Nearby restaurant even.
