After some of the fantastic places we saw, looking back Loxton was really just average. The wine was good table wine and the people were friendly, but the experience wasn't anything fantastic. Maybe if we had done the tour it would have been awesome, but we were just there for a tasting so I'm mostly rating on atmosphere and wine.... More

He's a no nonsense, down to Earth, and unpretentious wine maker. Our tour was fun, informative and was followed by an amazing tasting. A definite highlight of the trip!

How can one go wrong with free wine and nice workers? We didnt get to do a tasting with the owner, but the person we had was nice. The tasting room was filled with wooden barrels and gave the room an authentic feel. They even give you chocolate to taste with a dessert wine! Delicious!

We visited Loxton Winery on the recommendation of the Visitors Bureau in Sonoma. They assured us that even though this winery is listed as "by appointment only" there is generally someone there and that it is often the owner behind the tasting bar. We were not disappointed! We spent about an hour tasting wines and talking to the owner. It... More

An Australian from down under with the accent to prove it. A small winery but don't call them boutique. The entire operation is in a small building which includes wine tasting, wines in barrels and as our hostess explained it , the lab. Very friendly and informative.

Enjoy a beautifully balanced syrah or zinfandel with dinner? How about a lovely chardonnay- nothing over the top- just a perfectly balanced white to have before dinner or with your fresh crab! Then Chris Loxton is your winemaker- masterful in his approach and crafting of incredible syrahs, zins, pinot, chardonnay and let us not forget his port and late harvest... More

This place is the real deal. If you are lucky you can get your pours from the wine maker himself. Excellent everyday wines and port. Ask and your bottles will be signed. Place is plain, but if you are looking for a boutique winery, then this is the stop.

We visited Loxton Cellars on a recent trip to Sonoma as part of a tour group. Chris Loxton was a great host. is wines were pretty good, but his port was amazing. I am not a port drinker, but my husband is, and I can say that we both loved this port. Chris even signed the bottle for us.

We are visiting from New York on a family wine trip. We had someone from the area plan our whole trip for us. Out of all the wineries we had visited (Robert Mondavi, Joseph Phelps, and others), this was by far the best. Christopher, the wine maker, was extremely knowledgable on a lot of subjects, obviously in wine as well.... More

We have been visiting Loxton winery since it first opened, (about ten years). We make 3 or 4 trips a year, in the spring for the Heart of Sonoma Valley barrel tasting weekend to purchase futures, and then later to pick them up. Like other reviewers have said, Chris Loxton will give you the straight scoop on his wines, how... More
