Since we had already visited several wineries in France we were looking for something different in the Sonoma / Napa valley. At the tourist information right at the entry of Sonoma they recommended the Benziger estate and it was a good choice: a familiy owned business working by applying the Rudolf Steiner method. A lot of respect for nature and... More

As we walked in we were well received and greeted by a nice woman and I forgot her name but she was at the end table. We even got to talking about home(montreal) and how shes been to visit! Although I was sick throughout this visit, she had me sample a few wines that normally I would like, for instance... More

We had researched ahead of our Napa Valley tour and had selected 2 ‘must see’ vineries. Benziger was the first on the list (Artesa being the other). Benziger lived up to the expectation. We started with an educational tour of the vineyard properties, on a tractor trolley (quite comfortable), which tells you about the intricacies of grape farming and wine... More

Benziger is one of our favorite destinations when we visit wine country. A family owned business, this winery was the first bio-dynamic certified winery in the country. The tour of the vineyards is well worth the time and money. To us, one of the most interesting stops on the tour was at the "insectory", the section of the property where... More

Had a special tour on my birthday last year. Loved the winery and the gift shop is amazing. Still order wine 4 or 5 times a year.

Of all the wineries and vineyards I visited in Sonoma, Benzinger was the clear clear winner. Benzinger Family Winery is the clear winner. For a number of reasons: (1) Visitor friendly educational tour of the vineyard properties, including wholesale education on everything you ever wanted to know about growing grapes and turning them into wine; (2) Scenic and peaceful property;... The tour was very informative compared to some of the others we visited. The guide taught us a lot about their biodynamic and organic processes which sets it apart from many of the others. The tour through the vineyard was much better than others because of the tram. You get to see the caves and finish up with a tasting... More

This was an amazing winery! Great views, delicious wine, and excellent staff. My husband and I did the $40 couple tour. It was very intimate with only two other couples added to the tour. We started on a trolley ride up the hill, then headed to fermentation vats, and ended in the caves where the barrels were held. The wine... More

The Benziger Family winery is unique for its biodynamic approach to winery. Their $25 per person tour includes a tram tour (tram pulled by a big tractor) and generous wine tastings. The tour was very fun and informative. We visited the vineyards, had wine at the beginning of the tour while being taught about biodynamic farming, visited the area where... More

This the first winery tour we went on during our trip to Sonoma/Napa, and I'm so glad we did! We learned so much about wine making and specifically about Benziger's biodynamic practices. (Which is pretty fascinating.) The staff and tour guide were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the wines are delicious! I highly recommend visiting - and if you only... More
