Great place to shop

beautiful Gems and lots of them to buy. It's a family owned business, and it's rich in history of the north Coast

Take a break from hiking in the redwoods and checking out local breweries and spend an hour or two browsing through the amazing collection of rocks and minerals found at Chapman's. There is something for everyone - larger specimens for your garden or rock saw, a wide array of minerals (well organized!), jewelry and beads, rock/fossil/ geode items for the... More

I love rocks/gems/crystals/fossils, etc. My 6 year old son now shares this love. When I saw this place advertised on an Avenue of the Giants brochure I picked up, I knew we had to swing by. It was right off the highway, just before Fortuna if you're headed north. We got there just before they closed at 5. They have... More

I have never been inside a mineral shop this big before. There are HUGE crystals, every kind of mineral from around the world, fossils, and gem stones. If you are into gems and minerals, this is the place for you... impressive is an understatement !!!!

On our recent family trip to the Redwoods we stopped at Chapman's and were very pleasantly surprised. The shop itself is huge with many interesting gem and fossil specimens for sale. Our 11 year old son is a beginning Rock Hound and he loved the place. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and great with kids. The museum has... More

Looked like a good museum but we didn't have time to take it. My husband is a Geologist and enjoyed this place.

Very unassuming place. I think the prices are comparable to any to I shop. I was on the cusp of buying so many specimens despite not having the money in my situation right now. Some of the specimens are quite impressive. Everything inside is well marked in terms of pricing. A little disappointed to see there was no haggling with... More

Im in the gemstone/mineral business and other than the museum where one cannot buy anything, there was nothing I was interested in within the shop.

If you like rocks ... this is the place to be. Outside rock bins are a rock hounds delight – big, little, or in-between – something for everyone. Inside they have a great retail area. But the real gem of the place is the museum. It’s awesome - lots of diversity and treasures for all to see. They even have... More
