The 47-acre Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens on the south edge of Fort Bragg features a variety of plants, with a number of different environments, from forested, to open, grassy plains, to the very edge of the ocean bluffs. This time of year the dahlias were going crazy, the vegetable garden was making good progress - the lettuce was gorgeous! -... more

The gardens is a wonderful blend of horticulture, history, art, fun at the miniature railroad, and breathtaking views of the coast. One can easily spend a half day there. The variety of plants give joy all year round. Last weekend (July) the dahlias were in bloom filling that part of the gardens with a wild array of gorgeous colors. Whether... more

Always pleased with my visits. Not a place to rush through. Stroll down to the ocean, find a bench and look at the Pacific. It may be limited for some gardeners but appreciate what they have. Best time to visit is probably March, April or early May, but any time is worth half a day. Foods good and the little... more

This is a very large botanical garden...it stretches out to the cliffs along the ocean. Beautiful scenery, and a great place to take the kids. Expect large open areas, windswept bluffs, and gorgeous views. more

I loved the morning that we spent here. Unfortunately, my husband isn't all that fond of looking at plants and flowers. You could come here many times because different flowers are blooming during different seasons. Save plenty of time to explore - and wear sturdy shoes if you want to take some of the smaller, narrower paths. more

So much to see and experience with all the trails and hidden places to find. You'll spend more time here than you think (especially if you love plants and exploring) Well worth the price. more

Wow!!!! What a great place to spend an hour, 2 hours, 4 hours. Even after reading all the reviews here, it surpassed our expectations. When we were here, the Dahlias were in full bloom and they were fabulous. What colors they displayed! They had a full portion of the gardens devoted to them. Rest of gardens were very well kept,... more

Great place if you love flowers and plants. $10 entrance fee per adult. You walk around at your leisure and admire all of the growth. Goes all the way to cliffs overlooking the shore! Awesome view! Pack a lunch if you want. more

The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens was worth the $10 admission fee for the cliff-side ocean views alone. After a short hike off the main trail, we are greeted with some of the best ocean views I think we saw all trip. We visited in May so it was mostly the rhododendrons that were in bloom. They were lovely and the... more

The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens were a rare treat for my husband and me, in May. The Gardens are about 150 miles north of San Francisco and run from Highway One to the rugged Pacific Coast. They consist of 47 acres of gorgeous plants, which featured flowering plums, calla lilies, red hot poker or torch lilies, summer heathers and ice... more
