We love the walking trails and of course the beach. Lots of people go to this beach with dogs, which should always be welcome.

This time of year seals (May) are giving birth to their young at MacKerricher and this alone makes a visit worthwhile. During most days docents are stationed near the seals and they are happy to answer questions and direct you to points of interest.
The park itself is a wonderful place that has examples of forested areas, wetlands and of...

Very nice elevated walkway for entire circuit of this park, it is made of the new fake wood product to last tho there is some real wood too. This park will help visitors to get a sense of how rugged this part of Calif coast is, tho it is not the best and not the only such view. bathrooms are...

We went to the beach at MacKerricher State Park and it is really beautiful. We also found tons of little ladybugs all over the beach. I thought it was very interesting and fun. :)
Perfect weather. Was able to watch some mature seals and baby seals. Was hoping to catch a whale go by but no such luck. Watching the ocean was refreshing.
Miles of beautiful beach easy access.Just north of town. Shells and driftwood everywhere. I could have stayed on the beach for days, but it started raining pretty hard the day we were there.
This state park has a nice walking trail south on the Haul Road. A little later this spring, you'll be able to see the harbor seal pups. Nice coastal a bluffs with wildflowers, good camping sites.
Easy access and lovely vistas. We enjoyed both the beach and the trails leading out to the high cliffs. We saw migrating whales going north and dolphins swimming south!
Easy access to this park and free day use make it good choice. There are paths that loop around to the coast and go by some tidepools. I also saw whales migrating north right near the shore - so that was a highlight.
We enjoyed hiking around the lake, it took about an hour. Trails are good, not muddy, and we saw many birds. The park is located near the ocean, so you can combine forest and beach activities.
