we particularly booked (NS bound - 3hours) this train for our 2 yrs old daughter. The ride was okay nothing great. We were hoping for steam engine but unfortunately switched to diesel. The train goes through redwood forest and a tunnel. I was expecting nice scenes or landscapes but it's all red woods! This would be fun ride for kids... more

Recently I took the Skunk Train out of Fort Bragg. This was the second time I have taken it in the past few years, and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the first! There are several different trips you can take, and the train also runs out of a depot in Willits. The trip I took was a... more

We took the Skunk train ride last week, Willits to Northspur on the small diesel engine. It was a fantastic journey through the Redwoods. The driver had worked there for over 40 years, very interesting guy to listen to and the food at Northspur was good too. All in all, very relaxing and well worth the money. more

Booked the Skunk Train from the Willit's Station back in June. Confirmed the trip a second time on Tuesday before the Friday trip; i.e., the station location, time and the lunch I had also purchased. When we arrived to the station it looked deserted. I finally phoned to be told I was reserved for the Fort Bragg trip. It appears... more

Another must do on your list...is to take a ride on the skunk train...I took the BBQ Route...it was home style...the food was good...and all my fellow tourists were fun to talk with. We stopped at the Northspur and bbq'd. Then returned at 830 pm...the view was quite relaxing....we even passed by a 1000 year old redwood...the train singer added... more

The Skunk Train (w/ BBQ dinner) is a leisurely activity that allowed us to enjoy a slow ride through the densely wooded North Coast to a destination where dinner was waiting for us. The ride there took less than 2 hours and was a nice time to chat, take a nap, and enjoy the view. The dinner was average in... more

When I called to book our reservations, the lady asked us if we wanted to order boxed lunches - when I asked if we were allowed to bring our own, she told me no and as a result we ended up paying extra to get their boxed lunch. Once we arrived we did see several folks with coolers of their... more

We had booked the Skunk Train months earlier for part of our honeymoon, and about 2 weeks before our scheduled trip, we got a call from the Skunk Train saying that it wouldn't be running that day "due to mechanical errors." (Which sounds fishy: how woudl they know two weeks in advance that they're going to have mechanical errors that... more

The skunk train is a fine family activity, particularly if you've got a wide range of ages in your group or if there are very young or older folks with you. The train goes slowly and ascends/descends about 300 feet over about 40 - 50 miles. There's a small tunnel and several low bridges. The entire experience gives everyone time... more

We had a very hectic holiday down the coast full of action packed activities. The Skunk Train gave us the opportunity to take a breather and "stop and smell the roses". We had scheduled a dinner train ride but missed it because we had been given a terribly inaccurate estimation of the travel time between San Francisco and Fort Bragg... more
