My goal was to drive through and experience a more scenic style drive, but you'll find that's not the case when driving down 96 through the Klamath National Forest. We drove from Yreka to Eureka, by way of a narrow curvy road with a nearly 6000' pass, through Sawyers Bar. Much of the road was 1-1/2 lanes wide but fully paved. First trip - beautiful area - we rafted the river and loved all the surroundings - saw bald eagles -God's creation

This really is an amazing and beautiful area. We stayed at Marble Mountain Ranch, and traveled around a bit in this area while we were here. Horse back riding and rafting were a blast.

Away from the hustle of most of California, the Klamath National Forest has wonderful opportunities for fishing, hiking and camping. A great family vacation area.
