This place is awesome for young kids in strollers or out. It has been a staple for our family throughout the years and will continue to be. You almost always see something cool and it is a great way to spend an hour.

This is a great zoo for the size of it...The bear and lion area is spectacular. Take a lunch and eat at the park afterwards.
Last weekend we took our 2 grandsons to this small local zoo. Unfortunately it was very disappointing because-

The highlight of this zoo for me was that the animals have been rescued. We went there with family and it was a lovely chance for a walk and a to see the animals.

This zoo is different from all the rest. The grounds are beautiful and the gift shop is nice, but the best part is that all the animals have been rescued. If the momma bear is no longer around the cubs are brought here. Bring your camera at Christmas because the animals have presents to open! Food is placed is various...

Very good for young children, and I like the fact that they have animals that are from around the Sierra Nevada's and the foothill areas of El Dorado County, of course not the Monkeys etc.
Nothing went wrong but the layout is somewhat confusing and there really aren't all that many animals to visit. I relly like the lion though : ).
The free roaming Peacocks [there is even an albino one] are an exotice change from chickens. The fact that most of the animals there are also native to California makes it educational for the little ones.
Unlike many zoo's the Folsom zoo rescues animals from bad environments or starvation. This charming zoo is very family friendly and children will sequel with delight as they see the peacocks walking free throughout the grounds. The zoo has a vary talented animal staff - in order to raise money the zoo offers a collection of paintings painted by the...

However, the facility is an animal rescue center, with stories about the various animals and their...
