This is the perfect zoo for little kids. Right size to wander around. All the animals are rescued which makes it all the better. After you are done there is a train ride you can do and a wonder childrens park - all right there. Bring a picnic lunch and you are set.

It is a small zoo, but PERFECT for small children with shorter attention spans! Animals seem healthy and well-cared for. As I understand it, they are "rescue" animals which is nice. Staff is pleasant and friendly!

The Folsom Zoo/Sanctuary is located on top of a bluff that drops down to the American River, where there is a lot of great hiking and bike trails. This is a small zoo that houses wild animals (and some hybrid) many that have been hurt or have physical limitations that make it impossible to live in the wild. It is... More

This is a zoo/sanctuary, with rescued animals. It's a very nice zoo and has grown over the years through donations, contributions through eagle scout projects, etc. It's a fun place to spend a couple of hours. There is a nearby park with a playground, picnic tables, etc.

I guess this is a good zoo in general. Parents with children adored it. But when I visited it one weekend I found very few animals in cages. I met peacocks freely strolling on walkways, I saw how zoo personnel was feeding a fox. There was a bear in one of remote cages and a curious deer was greeting visitors... More

Great for little ones to explore or a date. This zoo encourages to stroll along. Enjoy the animals. Youll also get information about the animals as well as protecting them too. Not crowded. Relaxed atmosphere. I suggest to pack a lunch to eat at the park.nice/ easy hiking close by

Great low key place to visit with or without kids. Lots of rescued animals that you can get up close and observe. Not your typical "zoo" type animals. They have things like wolves and bears. Very friendly staff with lots of knowledge about their animals. Very inexpensive for a family outing. Would go back.

The Folsom Zoo is a wonderful way to spend time and is great for all ages. The Folsom Zoo is also a Nationally Recognized Animal Sanctuary. The majority of the animals have been rescued and are incapable of survival in the wild. Each exhibit has the story of that particular resident. Enjoy a trip to the Zoo on a pleasant... More

Visited the Folsom Zoo and was pleased overall with the animal exhibits that clearly showed how humane and caring the zoo personnel was. The animal enclosures, as well as the grounds, were well maintained and very clean. The animals had misters in their habitats and pools of water in large areas for cooling down and getting exercise. The five acres... More
