I always try to visit museums and had no idea what to expect at this one but was pleasantly surprised. Great collection of Indian baskets but the highlight is the museum genre that I describe as 'hey, if every family got all their old things together we could have a museum' -and I say that with respect, but there are... This museum is well worth the trip for it's Native American exhibit of baskets and hats that are on loan. History buffs of California will enjoy the local material.

This is an interesting little museum highlighting the economical engines that made this area go. There are rotating displays about a nuclear power plant, logging, railroad, and shipping. There is a really great native basket collection from local families. I highly recommend a stop in for the basketry display alone. Entrance fee was reasonable.

The Native American Indian section is a must see! I enjoyed the baskets and cloths and my husband enjoyed the tools of the trade.

This museum has Native American baskets and information that rival the Museum of Natural History in New York. This exhibit is definitely one of a kind. The Victorian displays are interesting and unique. The information about the trains and logging and the tragic flood in the 1950's was well preented. If you are driving thru Eureka, this is well worth... More

Rotating exhibits keep visitors always learning new items about our past. The Native American room is very nice and does a good job of explaining the role of Native Americans in our area.

When you're in Old Town stop by. This is a top notch museum and easy to see in a short time. Lots of local history with changing exhibits.

The collection of Victoriana and local historical items is extensive. The Native American basketry collection is the best in California. The small gift shop has a large selection of history books about the local area and northwestern California.

World-class display of baskets, historic photos, and artifacts from local Native peoples (Hupa, Yurok, Wiyot, and others). Well-done presentation of traditional cultures and lifestyles -- appealing to all ages.
