Stone Brewing Co. was founded in 1996 by Steve Wagner and Greg Koch in North County San Diego, CA. It is the largest craft brewery in the southwestern United States and has been named "All-Time Top Brewery on Planet Earth" by BeerAdvocate magazine - TWICE! A recently announced $26.6M expansion plan (that includes a hotel among other lofty ventures) is underway, as are developments to become the first American craft brewery to open a brewhouse in Europe. The adjacent Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens plays host to countless wildly popular beer and dining events, and is the largest purchaser of local, organic produce in San Diego County, including a growing amount from their own Stone Farms! In addition to promoting ethical eating, the restaurant boasts a lush one-acre outdoor garden as well as a line-up of 32 rotating taps and 100+ bottled craft beer selections for guests to enjoy.

I really, really wanted to award more than three stars. The facility is stunning, the service was superb, and the array of beers is amazing. Additionally, the food is really good. So why "only" three stars? First, the food turns out to not be the type we are particularly partial to. More importantly, it wasn't, in some instances, really what... More

This review is about the brewery tour. There is also a Stone restaurant on this property that I reviewed separately. (The restaurant is top notch, by the way.) Sign up for the tour on Stone's website. The tours do fill up, especially on the weekends, so book ahead of time. It is $3 per person and $1 if you don't... More

It doesn't look like it should be there, but listen for the voices and fountains coming from the garden behind the behemoth stones, and you'll know you're in the right place. We took the $3 tour of the brewery, which was shorter than most, but got us lots of samples at the end of the approx 45 tour. We were... More

I thought google maps was pulling my leg when it said I had arrived at my location. It looks like an office building from the outside and has no signage. Inside it's a different story - modern brewery, nice tasting are, fantastic restaurant and wonderful garden sitting area.

The brewery tour is quite informative. At the end of the tour beer, complimentary beer tasting is provided. The brewery is clean and the beer is very fresh. The brewery restaurant offers a variety of good food, with many of the ingredients grown on Stone's own farm.

Entertaining & educational tour was suitable for all ages. The food is delicious & eclectic--definitely not "bar food". Something for everyone, including children & vegetarians. Growler fills are available to take with you to your home, resort, or condo vacation :) Outdoor seating & trails are great for parents & their young children, who need to walk off a bit... More

I'm not big into beer, IPAs, or any of that jazz but this was a fun experience. It was interesting to see the process of how their products are made. I wasn't a fan of any of the samples I tried but the little glass we got was pretty awesome. Bonus- it's super cheap!

Went here at night, while I couldn't see the outdoor garden area and it was too cold to sit outside, I've thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and decor of the interior restaurant. The industrial tall ceiling and angled glass roll-up doors gives it an edge. The mac and cheese was average in flavor. The South American ceviche and regular jalapeño cheese... More

It had been a while since the last time we came here: we'll have to make a point to come more often. It is always a challenge to decide what to enjoy from their creative menu. Yesterday I ordered Moroccan meatballs and, as usual, I love them!
