I have only visited from the east end off Dixon Lake, but plan on hiking all the trails I can when in Escondido again. Beautiful place, not overly busy on the trails. Has an air of safety not found in other regions.

One day we spent about 3 hours on the north end, off Cougar Pass Rd, hiking the loop around Burnt Mtn. with a couple of short additions. Although it was a Saturday, we didn't see many people. Very nice hike. Another day (not a weekend), we parked at the main entrance and did a counter-clockwise loop with a climb to... More

This is a nice place to have around, but if you are coming from any distance, the Julian and Cuyamaca area is a better bet. This is nearly as suburban feeling as most of Mission Trails Regional Park which is within the San Diego City limits. We did the Engelmann Oak Loop which was a nice and easy 5 miler... More

Tucked away in Northeast Escondido, Daley Ranch offers several trail options. Beginners through experienced can use these trails. Mountain biking as well.

We enjoyed walking around the lake area and just enjoying the wildlife we saw. I wish we had brought our lunch. There were tables scattered around for picnicking.

Whether you hike, trail run or mountain bike, you'll love this place! Single track, fire roads, wild flowers in the Spring, this place has it all! What's cool is that we hiked there Saturday and when we got there the parking lot was filling up, but the park just seems to swallow people up and we hardly saw anyone on... More

Daley Ranch has a very good trail system great for people on foot, horse, or bike. The scenery is very pleasant and peaceful, with multiple trails and meadows. I would definitely recommend this to anybody looking for a great hike.

Not a lot of tree shade. I recommend going early in the morning or later in the evening. It gets hot here very quickly. Bring water if hiking between 9:00am and 4:00pm.

If you're looking for a hike with your wee ones and a stroller, this isn't the best place. We got there late morning and hiked through lunch time. The scenery is magnificent. Though probably not technically a desert, this area is sandy, scrubby and rocky. It was hot, dry and very sunny. Put on sunblock, and once you think you... More
