It is what it is. Don't expect it to be perfect.

I fished there on 8/21/15. I found the place to be clean and well kept. I rented one of their reasonably priced motor boats for a day of fishing. The boat was powered by a 12v... read more

Dixon lake is East of Escondido in the foothills. It is a great family place for a variety of outdoor activities. Boating, and fishing are good. We go there for picnic's and find it a wonderful serene spot that is close to town.

I fished there on 8/21/15. I found the place to be clean and well kept. I rented one of their reasonably priced motor boats for a day of fishing. The boat was powered by a 12v battery and a trolling motor. This was my only problem. When the winds pick up in the afternoon it becomes very hard to get... More

It has a very clean environment around and in the lake. There are many great hiking trails around the lake. Also, it is great for fishing. Many grassy areas are open for picnics. It is free to enter on the weekends.

We camped this past weekend at Dixon Lake. It was a great experience! The campsites are clean and well-maintained and with the gates closed and locked at sundown, we felt very safe and secure. We broke the rules and checked out the campsite beforehand (cars aren't suppose to go into the camping area - which we didn't know at the... More

Being charged a fee to fish is not the problem. Having to line up shoulder to shoulder with strangers behind a barrier to night fish is. Lines crossed all night with people who are practically sitting in your lap because you are ALL suppose to stand behind a block barrier while the Rangers babysat you and insisted on looking thru... If any body plan to go fishing at DIxon lake, it is better off by just filling up your bath tub and fish there instead.

We like it that Dixon Lake is close to home and we can get there after work if we are packed to go and leave right away. The web site has a nice overview of each camping spot. We stayed in one that had a view of the lake. It was great to hear the ducks in the morning. We... More

In April 2014 I went fishing here for the first time. I ended up with no fish and a 46 dollar parking ticket. Fishing is poor. I have 55 plus years of fishing experience. At Dixon lake i tried to catch fish with nightcrawlers, a major brand of floating bait and a silver lure for six hours. I never got... More

Good family spot. There is hiking trails (watch out for rattlesnakes), camping (but no pets nor fires) and trout fishing. I haven't fished yet but plan to this year!
