Pay a little more and get into the upper decks where you can eat and have a vantage view of the races. Good atmosphere and good times can be had.

Some of the best horse racing in the US. Del mar will host the Breeders Cup in 2016 and will be here for sure. This track was built by Bing Crosby in the '30's and is a classic.

We took the Coastal train from downtown. They have a free shuttle that runs from the train to the track. Staff at the track was very nice and helpful and showed us how to place our bets on the new system. They must have been good because we won! Food and beverage prices are pretty steep. More than what you... More

Narcissistic and condescending "do it our way" mandates $10.00 to park(C'mon Man) No buzz or historic warmth. Just let us take your money(unabashed)

Fun time with my wife and friends at the track. Beer and drinks are all expensive and food is your typical fair type food. We where there Labor day weekend so it was really crowded. We hope to go back when it is not a holiday weekend.

The horse racing was a great family activity. We all placed small bets & stayed for 3-4 races. You could stand or pay for a seat. There was food and even 2 free concerts after the races ended at 7:30. We saw Counting Crows & Lucky! Great time!

Obviously, you must be at least a little bit interested in horses, racing, gambling or all 3 as a start to visiting Del Mar. On a beautiful day it is great fun. The horses are beautiful animals, the races are exciting with a little cash on the line and the people watching may be the best part. Take a chance... More

Went to the Del Mar race track yesterday with a group of friends and had a blast. We are from AZ and had never been there before. What a fun time; weather was beautiful and winning was easy and exciting for beginners luck. Great way to spend a sunny California Sunday afternoon.

If you like horse racing, or just beautiful scenery and horses, Del Mar is a must see destination. I've been here many times and I never get tired of the place.

I am not a fan of horse racing or the crowd it brings to the town of Del Mar. I could do without the whole thing and would trashier see a Mission Bay type park where the track is, though I know that will never happen. If you like the ponies, go for it.
