We walk here twice a week. Great surfing for beginners to middle level surfers. Beaches are well care for and well patrolled. Many rest room facilities adjacent to the beach. Far end of beach is dog leash free and allow them to have fun. Lovely park next to old powerhouse, lots of grass, second park about that has great trees... More

One of the first things I noticed driving south from the Bay Area to Del Mar was the wonderful beach with protected public access. Driving through Los Angeles, I was surprised to see the view of the ocean blocked by houses and gates in the affluent areas so that you'd hardly know there was an ocean out there. The little... The beach was clean, and the waves were perfect for surfing. And if you see a square tent on the beach, it's probably the Fulcrum surf guys and they'll teach your kids to surf for about $75-100/hour -- my seven year old son had the time of his life!

LOVE the spring low tides - walked all the way to Torrey Pines beach from Del Mar. Lots of room for blankets & chairs; restrooms available at 25th ST and the main Lifeguard Station.

Del Mar City Beach is lovely and rocky! But, I guess that's what you get on the west coast. My daughter and I attempted to take a walk on the beach one night, but clouds were covering the moon and we had no flash light, which made it impossible to navigate through all the rocks the tide had brought up.... This is a great beach with goes on and on. The walks and trails, both near the water and on the cliffs overlooking the beach are worth going back again and again. And the best thing is to be here for the locals ritual if worshipping a glorious sunset.

Though it was too cold to swim, we enjoyed walking the beach and dabbling our toes in the waves. The beach wasn't crowded since it was midweek but there still was plenty of activity and lots of surfers to watch. It's a nice area that was clean, safe and inviting.
