It is scenic and long. Southern California beaches are open to all, unlike the beaches on the East coast.

Spent a great day along the beach. Was clean and nice. Life Guard towers were staffed. Surf was nice for both surfing and body boarding. Tide wasn't too strong so kids could play without much worry. Dinning is close to the beach.

This beach is always a little gem in San Diego. The beach is clean, safe and the lifeguards are great. In the winter you can bring your dog and the people are nice. No alcohol. Great family beach where you can surf and swim.

This beach is in a great location. It is so easy to get to and comparing it to La Jolla, the traffic congestion a lot less. The beach is clean and it seems laid back. it does seem to be more families. The waves were great. But if you are a person who collects sea shells, you will be out of... More

Del Mar beach has two parks, Powerhouse Park and Seagrove Park that overlook the beach if you do not want to be on the sand. My advice, park above Luneta that is north of PCH in the neighborhood district and walk down. Jakes Del Mar which is a steak restaurant and Poseidon which is a great pick up place for... More

The beach in Del Mar is worth a visit. Beach goers of all kinds, sun lovers, walkers, families, and surfers populate this beach. More lifeguards than most of the San Diego beaches make for safe swimming. Guards patrol the beach with inflatable boats and trucks. The beach is dog friendly and the dog owners for the most part supervise their... More

We visited as many beaches as we could while vacationing in the Del Mar area, and this beach was very nice, with a pretty park next to it. The one thing that I noticed about this beach that was different than the others was the lifeguard service. They had several rescue boats and many lifeguards stationed there; way more than... More

Lots of good food options, great people watching, parking available, and within walking distance to great shops and quaint town of Del Mar. Clean restroom facilities, and an awesome grassy knoll to picnic on if sitting or dining on the sand is not your thing.

After failing to find a parking spot at La Jolla Cove Sunday night, we hit this Monday morning. So cool. Found free parking and a very sparsely populated beach. There were some dog walkers (which we greeted happily in spite of "no dogs allowed" signage. There were the runners who were having a peaceful jog on the sand. And there... More

Del Mar Beach and downtown is laid back, relaxing and good spot to stroll for a couple of hours. The beach itself is OK with lots of black hard sand and not great sand for walking on so bring sand shoes. Along the edge are plenty of parks with free bathrooms and changing areas. Downtown has nice outdoor cafes, Starbucks... More
