Great ride. Left on time and a little over an hour. It was a little rough on the way to Avalon but smooth on the way back. Spectacular views of the sunset. We took the 6:45 morning ride and 7:45 that night back to Dana Point.

Ferry rides are free on your birthday which makes for a great excuse to go to Catalina for the day! You also get discounts at many stores on Catalina. The Ferry itself is quick, clean and well run!

We've been taking the Catalina Express back and forth for years from Long Beach and occasionally from Dana Point. The trips are always fun bookends to our time on Catalina Island. This past weekend, my husband and I took turns going to Dana Point to pick up our grandson so he could come over for the weekend. I took him... More

The ferry was very efficient. Right on time, quick to load and unload your luggage. Snacks and drinks available on board with a large bathroom. The staff was very nice. Good trip back and forth to the island.

This is a great way to go to Catalina, since , if you don't have a boat, or a private plane, there probably IS no better way to get there. Just sit, relax, enjoy a snack, or coffee, and you are there in a short time.

We had not taken this trip before but had a helpful person on the phone to guide us. We made reservations easily, they reminded us that if it was anyone's birthday on the exact day, we could get a discount and also the parking was reasonable. The outdoor "terminal" area is not well marked so they could use a more... More

On Saturday, 2/21, we were returning from Avalon to Dana point on the 4:30 pm boat. As we were boarding, there were 4 obviously drunk people behind us that were also boarding. They were yelling, cussing and one girl was visibly staggering or stumbling. Unfortunately, they chose to sit right in front of us just to the right of the... More

We took a day trip to Catalina and used the Dana Point Catalina Express to get there. They recommended booking in advance because sometimes they sell out. We parked at the marina, they charged us $12. The ride over and back took an hour and fifteen minutes. From Dana Point it appears that they only have one (or two on... More

I took the Catalina Express from Dana Point, as my hotel was in Dana Point. The harbor itself is located mere minutes from most of the hotels Dana Point, so if you're staying in town, you can avoid having to contend with parking. From Dana Point, the crossing takes about an hour and five minutes, and at least on the... More
