Efficient boarding and store luggage. Plenty of seats and nice little snack bar. Seats both outside and in. TVs inside.

Take Dramamine! Catalina Island is something every visitor to Southern California should try to see, because it hints at what SoCal was like before we paved it over. The trip there can be rough; Dramamine can make the difference between an hour of utter misery and an hour of drowsiness. Getting out into fresh air is another cure.

my husband and I have taken it out of Long Beach port, several times - always made reservations, and got there 1 hour before to check in-never had a problem and they always run on time and got us there. yes they offer/sell drinks and lite snacks on board...usually plenty of room and the storage for luggage works out great... We took the Catalina Express from Dana Point to Catalina and back. Recommend booking in advance because sometimes it is sold out. Trip was about 1:15. We took seats in the front of the boat going out. This worked out fine as the doors on either side were open so lots of fresh air. Even saw about 100 porpoises in... More

I guess it doesn't matter much, it gets you to & from the island. I am sick most of the time on the way there anyway, so even if this boat doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it's just over an hour anyway. It runs on time, so that is a plus.

Great trip across to Catalina Island with Catalina Express. Great crew who were able to give us a 'shout out' if they saw any whales. Dana Point was a good place to catch the boat from with good parking facilities.

My buddy and I spent the day on Catalina taking the 9:50 am boat over and the 5:50 pm boat back to Dana Point. This was our first time and my ticket was free as it was my birthday. This schedule gave us time to take the great "Taste of Catalina" food tour with time enough to do some sight-seeing... More

What fun - going to Catalina for the day - the boat made the trip easy, even on a rather rough day. We enjoyed the ability to see from many different vantage points on the boat during the trip.

Everyone involved from the folks distributing tickets, to the snack bar concierge, to the pilot himself were approachable professionals who know what they are doing, and how to do it in a service-minded manner. We got to the island in no time at all, and enjoyed just as speedy of a trip on the way back after wearing ourselves out... More

Travel was what I expected, UNTIL we stopped to watch whales. Very cool as we found a whale breaching on the return trip. Thanks for stopping Captain!
