Immaculate...surfing, volleyball courts, trolley rentals...all beach-type rentals, snack bar, fire pits, BBQs in grassy areas. The best of the West.

The Beach Boys song "Don't Go Near the Water" plays in my head every time I think of Doheny. Out of towners might not know that it often gets an "F" grade for water quality from Heal the Bay and other monitoring organizations, due to the runoff from San Juan Creek. It has been a bit better in general lately... More

Doheny State Beach is a great Beach to learn to Surf! The waves are gentle and the beach itself is so beautiful to walk and to look for sea shells. It is especially nice when the tide is low to look at all of the sealife!

Doheny Beach is a state beach, park and campground. It has a very large beach area, lots of grass and picnic tables behind the beach and a campground where reservations are mandatory almost all year long. There are full facilities with restrooms, changing rooms, snack bars, bike rentals, park rangers and life guards. The sand on the beach is a... More

I had one of the best bike rides on doheny beach. I rented a fat tired bike at Cycleogical bike shop in dana point and rose from Doheny to past san clement pier on the sand. There were few people in the beach midweek in November. The tide was going out so I didn't get stuck at the houses. Pure... More

This is not the most beautiful beach in the area, but it's ok for a little sun and just hanging out. We went to the Day Use area. Pros: Parking right next to sand and beach. Actual bathrooms; not outhouse style. Dolphins. Fire pits. More of a family beach, not a teen beach, so not as crowded as some. Cons:... More

Got in late ranger still on duty and helped with all our questions. The camp ground was crowded as we parked our RV but lights out by 9.30pm very quiet except the freight trains that run all night. Bring your ear plugs.

My husband and I got a site and it was a tight fit, so we asked to move to a larger site next to it but the woman worker was to lazy to fill out the form and told us no and the site we wanted never got used. Some genuis built bathrooms with two toilets and six showers like... More

Well, we are done with the California State Parks system. It used to be that our utility trailer with the motorcycles on it counted for a legally towed vehicle. -No extra charge. A few years back they changed it to only one motorcycle and the other was charged at 10 dollars per day. Now they only count the utility trailer... More
