Spent an evening here walking on the beach and watching the sun set. Very nice beach. I'm sure it's a popular place in the summer.

Rocky bottomed, this isn't your Hawaiian sesame seed sand beach but it has a charm of its own. Pros: learn to surf or sup surf, camp for a kings ransom, hang out and watch the boats from the harbor, fish off the rocks at the point. Cons: little paid parking lot, rocky bottom, polluted during and within a week of any rains... More

What a nice beach. I liked the RV camp ground park. Even though it's close to the road, it's pretty quiet.

This is a great spot for a stroll or sitting on a scenic and quiet beach area. It is very popular in summer, and would be an excellent choice for camping next to the beach.

This is a very pretty campsite offering a unsurpassed view of the beach and Pacific Ocean. Please however be forewarned that it is one of the most polluted & dirty waters in So Ca.

It's was very cold and nobody could start... More

Clean, great fire pits! Perfect place for a morning walk or a sunset hot dog roast. Went walking there every morning on way to Dana point harbor - really a lovely park.

As regards camping, camping here is expensive. $60 for ocean front sites. $35 for the rest. There are no hook-ups. As regards surfing: this is a good beginner's beach for surfing. When it's rainy or wet, the San Juan dumps untold chemicals/waste and it is to be avoided. As you walk south from the park, there are sections that have... More

Immaculate...surfing, volleyball courts, trolley rentals...all beach-type rentals, snack bar, fire pits, BBQs in grassy areas. The best of the West.

The Beach Boys song "Don't Go Near the Water" plays in my head every time I think of Doheny. Out of towners might not know that it often gets an "F" grade for water quality from Heal the Bay and other monitoring organizations, due to the runoff from San Juan Creek. It has been a bit better in general lately... More
