Loved the beach as well as the area....The beach was quite spacious, lots of people but never felt over crowded. Beach was clean and liked that there were restroom facilities available at two different beach locations. Could have done without all the little dead fish that kept washing ashore though!!

The beach itself is very big with lots of space to spread out. The views are beautiful and there is an Air Force base right next to the beach. Fighter plains are constantly flying over very low and it is extremely loud. The sand is black near the water and it looks like there are gold flakes in it which... More

Spent part of an afternoon here with our cooler and towels camped on the beach in front of the Hotel del Coronado. Beautiful spot, but a LONG way to the only public restroom on the beach. Had lunch at the Del's Sun Deck restaurant. (Very tasty pulled pork sandwiches.) We actually liked this beach best in the evening. We'd toss... More

This was my first visit to Coronado Beach. I was very pleased with the cleanliness and availability of wash station. There were doggy poop stations for people who bring their dogs. Lifeguards were on duty and warned the boggie board surfers of a developing rip current. Over all everyone was nice and I felt comfortable being there. I definitely plan... More

The beach in Coronado is empty. Not a soul around because everyone is at the pool or out doing activities. Honestly, the beach isn't the most gorgeous out of the California beaches here, because it's close to the military base, but it's California, so it's still so gorgeous. The waves are almost non-existent, and you can just lay around, read... More

While staying in San Diego at the Urban Boutique Hotel, I wanted to find a nice beach to soak up the sun. I ended up taking the Broadway Pier Ferry over to Coronado. Ferry is $8.50 round trip. It runs every hour from San Diego, and every half hour from Coronado. Once I was there, I had pizza at the... More

We have visited so many beaches and were glad we took a few extra minutes to enjoy the view, the sounds, the smell, and the people at the beach. For a Sunday (we went on June 22, 2014), it was not overcrowded, and the sand castle under construction was fun to watch. Walk it and enjoy it.
