What a great beach. Long, wide and soft what more could you ask for. How about a leash off dog area for our furry family members. At the north end of the beach there is about a 1/2 mile stretch that runs right up the naval station fence. This might be my new favorite dog beach. Like I said this... More

Coronado Beach is about 1.8 miles along coast line and the sand is so soft while you walk on and feel like on the nice carpet. The surface of sand with dark and black color that is pollution. Peaceful and beautiful open wide view, clean coast line, also can see two islands in Mexico. There is no parking lot and... More

We walked along the sidewalk adjacent to the beach beginning at the Hotel Coronado to the military installation and then turned around and walked to the Coronado mansions. The beach is enormous. Its also very clean. The temperature was cool and not many people were sitting on the sand. This may also have been because it was a weekday. Occasionally,... More

I love beaches, love being near the sea. The area is pretty enough but the beach is absolutely filthy. I wondered if there had been an oil spill because of the dark nastiness all over the beach. Then a local told me it was pollution; including raw sewage. Such a shame for a beautiful area to be tainted. However, Coronado... More

Its a little hike from the street to the water, but worth it. My toes and I were VERY happy just sitting on the sand and listening to the waves. We were there late afternoon and it was NOT crowded. Its close to the Hotel Del Coronado, which one could visit.

This is a great beach for long walks, building sand castles, and playing in the waves. Lots of activities around the beach like volleyball, concerts near the Del, etc. The only draw back is the frequently passing helicopters, jets, and airplanes from the nearby military base--but even these can be interesting to watch as they fly closely overhead.

I visited Coronado beach in a late afternoon after a busy day in San Diego. It was a big transformation in a very short time. Time was before and after sunset. Walked along the beach from the mighty Coronado hotel to a good distance north in that peaceful time. Fascinating even with sounds of planes on and off of the... More

Unless you are looking for the booze and party, this is the nicest beach in San Diego. It is long, wide and clean. So it never feels crowded.

This was the first beach I've been to on the west coast. I shouldn't have been surprised, but for some reason it caught me off guard at how rough and cold the water was. It was a vast area and very pretty with the backdrop of the Hotel del behind it. There was an amazing sand castle someone built which... More

There are restrooms available, restaurants nearby, clean, safe family style beaches, and free parking on the street.
