Clean beach close to Coronado Island

Nice clean beach with lots of parking. Faces west, towards the open ocean. Big waves and unobstructed views.

Nice beach area - quite a long stretch to walk - wide, with soft sand. Found it to be quite clean. From a distance I believe I saw some rentals for water sports, such as paddle boarding, etc.

The water is really cold, but it was a refreshing change from what I'm used to. Really had a good time here, and the scenery was just amazing. The Navy SEALs train nearby, and there's a fairly strong naval presence in the area (ships and such).

From the parking lot you can choose to settle into the beach on the Pacific Ocean where you can stay to watch the sun sink into the ocean or walk under the freeway to the Bayside where there is less wind and at sunset you can watch the cities on the mainland turn into a mass of twinkling lights.

Close to Lowes Coronado hotel. Easy park, big lots. Some shells, some sand dollars. Great place to watch the sunset. Too cold in April to go in, but lovely, quiet, beautiful beach. Sandpipers.

My husband & I absolutely LOVE Silver Strand State Beach & have to visit on every trip to San Diego! The soft long stretch of sand (a mix of white & black) just glistens in the sun in such a unique way compared to all other beaches we visited. On our most recent visit in early April 2015, we found... More

Easy parking (unlike Coronado beach) ok it's $5 but I spent that in gas the previous day looking for a parking spot near Zcoronado beach.

The beach has a fair amount of parking but there is a fee. The beach was not crowded at all and most of the beach goers were mostly surfers enjoying the waves. The beach is right beside the US Navy SEAL training area and there are times that you can hear automatic weapons fire coming from the area. The RV... More

Watch the ongoing parade as the military ships, sailing ships, small personal boats and ferries navigate the waters.
