There were several members of my RV camping group staying at the "Strand" for proximity to our Christmas Party on the Island, and it was a love hate experience for most of us. It is a parking lot adjacent to the beach with lines for the spaces and a tower for power & water. We were warned that when the... More

Nice sand, beautifully clear water with very little seaweed/kelp (or minimal for a California beach). We didn't go for a swim, far too cold for that. We just walked along the beach up with the water up to our calves picking up shells and sand dollars shocked that there was no one else there doing the same thing! We could... More

This park is awesome, they do have a 10.00 daily parking fee. The park and beach is huge and includes a really nice section accessed under the high way opening up a beautiful picnic on area right on San Diego Bay, the only time kelp is an issue is during the storm activity out to sea. The ocean beaches are... More

We stayed at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort and planned to marry on the Silver Strand Beach.....it was 10.00 just to go over to the beach with the minister and look at the beach. Then the state of California wanted 100.00 for a permit, 200.00 for an "event" fee. It was the minister, us, matron of honor, best man and... More

Pretty beach, don't get caught with any adult beverages - it's a no-no! ;) Just keep 'em undercover.

It costs $10 to park, and the beach is covered in sea weed. Coronado municipal beach is much nicer and cleaner

This is my favorite beach in SD. Never over crowded and you can walk for miles. I go there every time I vacation in SD.

This beach now has camping. Apparently it's a newer feature, although I'm not from the area...just heard someone say it. The beach is beautiful and Coronado Island is gorgeous. We rented bikes and had a good time exploring the area and San Diego. For a state park it was quite expensive... about twice as much per night as Oregon state... More

I visited the Loew's Hotel on Coronado and walked over to the beach while I visited. The beach was nice, it was not too crowded, and it looked to have good parking. They had chair rentals and concessions available at the beach as well. I would visit again.

Can you say no trash and no crowds on a perfect beach and believe it? Well you should as that is what you will find at Silver Strand Beach. The waves are mellow yet have good shape. Nice to teach first day board use for a surfer and easy for kids to play in the water without getting hammered.
