Less than 5 miles away from the more-frequented beach at the famous Hotel del Coronado, the Silver Strand Beach offers an equally scenic beach. With only a handful of visitors it felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Parking at the on-site lot with an automated credit- or cash-accepting machine was only $2 per hour with a daily... This is a beautiful sandy beach with miles for walking, watching the ships come and go out of the Naval shipyards. Found quite a few sand dollars and some other small shells. Can't beat the light breeze off the ocean on a warm day.

Worth the drive to stop at Silver Strand, shorter walk from parking to the water's edge than the beach north of the Hotel Del.

We especially enjoyed the 1.5 mile Bay side Nature Trail along the Silver Strand bikeway. Park at the Fiddler's Cove Marina (at the northern end) and you'll see the beginning of the trail.

The beach is nice but the best part is there is a paved path that goes along the road for several miles. It's a great place to go for a walk or a run and there were also a lot of people biking.

Another beautiful Coronado beach. We went during the week in the morning and there was hardly anyone there. It's definitely less crowded than the Coronado Municipal Beach down the road. It also isn't overshadowed by hotels and apartment complexes. The sand seems to shimmer with gold in the sun and the waves are consistent but not overpowering. The beach was... More

Stayed with relatives in the RV park. Nice beach, beautiful sunsets. Problem is they close the gates at 7pm. You need to take a cab to town if you want to eat dinner unless you plan on coming back early. If you take a cab, you still face a 1/2 mile walk to get to the RV section from the... More

The beach has a trail that goes many miles and is flat. We used this as our before/after running track for the San Diego Holiday Half Marathon (December 28). We will use this in the future! It makes you feel successful while a clear path is given to cyclists and runners alike.

Great for sea shells and soft sand. Good parking and clean restrooms too. Disliked all the unsupervised dogs

Make sure you check the surf and sunset times. At low tide you can dig for Pismo Clams. There are shells to collect and birds to watch for. The hard pack sand makes walking easier along the edge of the water. Our visit the temp was about 70, but dropped to 63 after the sun was well below the horizon.... More
