The first time we've been rafting but definitely not the last. We chose AO (All-Outdoors) who looked after us impeccably - great service, lunch, conversation and a fair price for a brilliant day.

My husband, 11 yr old and myself booked a raft trip with American Whitewater Expeditions August of 2014, our first WW raft trip ever. The river is very pretty, clean and lots of fun. I can't say enough about the outfitter we chose and our guide, both FANTASTIC! Great river to raft, lots of twists and turns and ups and... More

This river is beautiful and challenging. Our 6 hour trip is now a favorite memory. Pick your guides wisely and some discount trips also cut corners on safety. Same is true of the river photographers. Hot shots is a mass movement with no personal attention, go for the one with the pink sign. Make sure to tip your guide.

A great place to get in some white water close to town. There are several places you can put in at or near Coloma. Just make sure you know what you are doing, don't have pool toys (Kmart coffin) and a near shore PFD like I have seen so many times. The names of the rapids (trouble maker) should be... More

I visited this area to go kayaking. The section of the American River that runs through Coloma is a Class 3 intermediate run. The local outfitteres were equipped with rafts, kayaks, and lessons for beginner level boaters.

Again, this is where I live! This is what we do all summer!! It's really really fun! You can use your own raft for free or you can pay about $75 per person and go with a rafting tour place. There are MANY to choose from up here. AND there are a few photography places that snap your picture on... More

Family reunion at Camp Lotus last weekend... Over 30 members including five river guides, and complete equipment for a river run... There are commercial trips still available on the South Fork, even during the drought, because the powers that be must release water thru the whitewater stretch every weekend... And while the water isn't at the usual high levels, it... More

There is nothing more refreshing than a raging river! Even though it was a low flow year, it was gorgeous!

This is a great place for recreation that is nestled and away from it all. We even did some gold panning where I found a flake of gold. It looks very family friendly, dogs, and people of all ages can find something for them to enjoy.
