We drove through clear lake in August, and not being able to swim in the lake was both surprising and disappointing

We were there in July just before the fires came. Beautiful lake and phenomenal fishing. Rented an amazing house at Lands End via home away.com Kelli Riveras. Town has drive-in theater that was a real treat. Knowledgable staff at bait shops. Go to Von's for big grocery runs.

This is a great lake to look at. But beware do not eat the fish nor would I recommend swimming in the lake. It is not safe. Too much waste water has drained into the lake, and it is now polluted. But it is beautiful to see as you are driving by

The Lake has been great this year and the fishing is amazing. Nice small city and great people. I love the dress shop on Lakeshore drive. Sphynx

What a disgusting place. I would never travel there on vacation. The drugs are big time in that area. It's where the felons go to hide out. Homeless people living on the streets. Not a safe area to visit.

We have been staying at Worldmark for a week. The lake is amazing, with the best and most water we have seen in years. 83 to 82 degrees in water temp. If you want a lake with water in it come to Clear Lake. It is a big beautiful lake.

Old fashioned carnival rides, ice cream truck, funnel cakes and a riverfront park to watch the fireworks. It could have been a little cooler or a little cleaner but the view made up for it. The lake was just getting over an algae bloom so it was more aromatic than usual but it was pleasantly breezy and enjoyable.

I've been to Clearlake once before about two years ago and it was beautiful. On this trip, the beauty is still there, but the lake smells like sewage. Perhaps it's because of the drought or because of the mercury contamination. We had plan to stay in town, but the smell gave us both a headache, so we moved on. It's... More
