If some sleazy corporation owned this they would charge a large admission. Picture-book park with rolling lawns and heritage trees, and a mountain stream framed in like a swimming pool with ladders and life guards. The pool is flushed clean once a week. Come see what America looked like when people like the Bidwells were running the show. My, how... More

If you get anywhere near Chico try to add a visit to Bidwell Park to your itinerary. The park is huge and Big Chico Creek runs through it. The park is perfect for strollers, joggers, runners and cyclists. The One-Mile Dam Recreation Area offers a huge, concrete lined swimming pool that the creek flows through. Picnic areas, and playgrounds abound... More

Very nice park for biking, hiking or swimming. Lifeguards on duty during the summer. Nice place to have a picnic. And I imagine it is beautiful in during the fall months.

When our kids were little they enjoyed Caper Acres kids area at the part. Mix 2 parts kids plus 1 part imagination to have lots of fun. Take some water with you to drink. There are drinking fountains and bathrooms available.

My husband grew up in this area and has many fond memories of swimming at the 'one mile'. His family reunion was here and this park was HUGE. We didn't know, but a park ranger came and made us take down the volleyball net we had tied around the trees. He was really nice about it though. There are a... More
