We went there to ride our bikes because we were told it had great trails. It was great. You could ride in peace and not worry about cars. Good for walking and running too. Bring your bathing suit it has a great place to swim too. I was so surprised the place wasn't packed with people. It was a Saturday... More

Although Bidwell Park is beautiful and a popular spot for biking and walking, there are frequent car break-ins and burglaries at the major parking areas, even in broad daylight. According to a recent article in the Chico ER, the local paper, there have been over 1000 "smash and grabs" in the first 6 months of 2014. The police will not... More

This is a great place to swim and great for walks. The big, shady trees make walks bearable on hot days and it a nice place to be out and enjoy nature. This is a place that you must go at least once if you visit Chico.

Excellent city park in downtown Chico. Spacious grounds with lovely big shade trees. Ample parking. Easy to find. In or going to Chico? This is a must go.

Every year we go through Chico to Butte Meadows (in Lassen National Forest) for our vacation. We go to Chico to visit Bidwell Park and its One Mile Dam, which is a waterway dammed up for the summer so people can wade and swim and cool off in the 100 degree heat. The park lets the water out each week... More

Very nice area. Very family friendly. It was hot so we dipped our toes in the swim area and relaxed. Parking was easy. It was free and there were plenty of life guards

Great walking path. We went up 2.5 miles and back with my sons and granddaughter to enjoy a perfect day. Look out for disrespectful bicyclists young and old who do not alert you when passing. Most other trails have rules and laws, but I guess Chico residents are special.

Take a nice break by walking the easy trail that starts at the creek pool and makes a long loop through the trees.

This is one of the greatest parks in California. There is an upper and lower portion . The forest is unmatched. It was quite hot out and under the canopy of the trees with the creek winding around, its magical. We had a picnic lunch and watched the wildlife. Whats really incredible is its in the city itself.

Current generations would never leave huge parcels of land dedicated to the enjoyment of future generations as did the folks from the days before WWII in my opinion. So, this park is just another thoughtfully planned and maintained natural wonder. There is no glittery carousels and venues to purchase fast food or cheap junk. Only acres of wild urban forest...
