I have yet to see the entire park, as it's quite large. We typically drive to Upper Bidwell, and then hike from near the Observatory parking lot. Hiking back up into the park, starting with Monkey Face outcropping is very nice. I only go here on reasonable weather days. For me it wouldn't be fun on a hot day. Hike... More

Bidwell Park is one of the largest city parks in the United States. Today, it is eleven miles long and runs along Little Chico Creek. It was given to Chico by Annie Bidwell, widow of Civil War General John Bidwell. It has a wide variety of things to see and do. At one mile, closest to downtown Chico, there is... More

Really love this park in the early mornings. Perfect to relax and play. A lot of people socializing like walking their dogs, bike riding, walking through the trails, and doing picnics. Another one of my favorite things here is the shade from the trees and the beautiful birds singing.

My favorite memories from living in Chico are from the swimming holes in Upper Bidwell. I also loved to scan the hills for mountain lions , pick blackberries in both Upper and Lower, and stargaze at the observatory across from the golf course. Man, Bidwell is honestly one of my favorite places I've been to and you gotta visit it.

This is really a spectacular park. The oak trees are incredible. Enjoy this huge park! (and try to figure out where Robin Hood was filmed.)

If you want a nice place to walk, run, or bike, look no further. The paved or dirt path from lower to upper Bidwell allows for a wonderful 16 mile turn. I had no idea that Chico had such a fine park and will return to use it for future training runs.

This tranquil park rivals the best green spaces in the nation. This is the ideal place to spend some time in Chico, especially when the weather is nice. There are two distinct sections, Upper and Lower. I only had time to explore the lower section, but is was beautiful. Peterson Memorial Drive runs for about two miles right through the... More

This park has something for everyone. From Caper Acres for the little ones to B-Trail for the mountain bikers and hikers, this park holds many places to explore and get lost in nature. I've played in this park for more than 18 years and there are still new places to be found.

Trees, trees, trees. Water, water, water. Lovely place to swim or walk. Make sure you visit upper and lower Bidwell Park.
