Bidwell Park is said to be one of the largest city parks in the country. It consists of lower park that meanders through town with picnic areas, large swimming pools and softball diamonds, and upper park that features water falls, secluded swimming holes, golf and miles of hiking trails. A friend of mine shared a picture of himself on Facebook... More

It has a wonderful spiritual, peaceful feel about it, it is so big and offers majastic oaks and other trees.....a wonderfulplace to take your family for a picnic, a bike ride on one of the many trails, and it has a wonderful place to go swimming for the whole family, this belonged to the Bidwell family.

This is a great park for anyone! Lower park at One Mile has a great swimming hole where locals cool off in the summer. There are life guards there which makes it a great place to take kids. There are also picnic areas as well as playgrounds here. If you have kids don't miss Caper Acres! Many trails wind through... More

Beautiful park!! Huge trees. Lots of people there - many children and families. I remember there were walking trails throughout the park. There were great playgrounds for all ages there.

This park has just about something for everyone. The more tamed west end begins in the Chico city area. There is summer swimming (a pool created by using the crystal clear waters of Chico creek. Picnic areas, summer movies, and an area for plays (theatrical type). There are softball diamonds in several different locations. There is a very cool children's... More

Have had the opportunity when visiting Chico to hike Upper Bidwell a couple times. Typically go to the parking area near the Gun Club and Observatory, and then hike up Monkey Face and then back into the park to the west. Then nice to work your way down to the river and then follow that trail back to the parking... More

Great location for a leisure walk in the lower park near downtown or a more intense hike in the upper park.

One of the largest municipal parks in California, over 3500 acres of natural beauty ! Great place to walk and bike, as the road is closed to traffic most of the day.Trees, trees, trees. Lower Park has a pool created by the creek running through a cement channel, the water is always moving, untreated, refreshing. Tons of picnic areas, many... More

Walking distance to downtown - great for bike riding, dog walking, hiking. Very unique - large, creek runs through it. The downer is that the highway also runs through it.
