In August we overnighted at Chester, brought a picnic lunch and found the beautiful public picnic site on the west side of Lake Almanor. Clean, great facilities--lunched at picnic table right on the lake with no fee. We then took the drive around the lake, over the dam and into the exclusive gated community of homes on the peninsula. Had the chance to spend a week in Lake Almanor in a lake side cabin in late August and really enjoyed it. We had a great vista of the lake. The air is fresh and the water clear. My friends got on the lake everyday for water sky and swinging. I and my sister just relaxed and enjoyed the clean... More

We spent a lovely week at friend's lake shore cabin. What a enjoyment it was standing on deck every morning with a cup of coffee, watching the peaceful lake and surrounding mountains. The lake offers good fishing (saw lots fish jump). Lucky for us the busy season passed so the lake was mostly quiet, felt we had the whole lake... More

From the thick forest around the lake and area, to the volcano nearby, to the amazingly warm and clear waters of the Lake, this is a great vacation spot. An artificial lake, it is huge with several campgrounds and picnic areas all around. There are cabins and houses to rent with the small town of Chester at the north end.... More

The water was around 71 degree's and felt great. Fun place to take the family to go fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, golfing, hiking and... More

Beautiful lake located in a secluded valley surrounded by forest. All water sports welcome, fishing (well stocked lake), boating, water skiing, kayaking, you name it. Several campsites, RV sites, cabins and vacation rentals around the lake and also a few bed and breakfasts in nearby Chester. Very family oriented but not at all crowded if you are looking for a... Very scenic lake with mountains, trees and snow covered Mt Lassen. Doug Neal of Almanor Fishing Adventures took us on a fun 7 hour guided fishing tour of Lake Almanor. We sucessfully caught some nice size fish. Although the town of Chester still is recovering from the recession, we still found all the amenities we needed to enjoy this beautiful... More
