We traveled to Lake Almanor in September 2015 in our 5th wheel RV for three nights. We stayed at Northshore campground which as very nice, clean and secure. The California drought has left the lake dreadfully low so we weren't able to access the water with our zodiac anywhere near our campsite, but if you drive to the marina a... More

Take time to drive all the way around the Lake. There are places to pull off and see various vantage spots of the Lake and some with wonderful views of Mt. Lassen. Fix a picnic during the summer and find a spot on the lake. Good spots for swimming and boating or fishing!

It is a bit of journey to get to for many but is well worthwhile. The lake is some what shallow which leads to good swimming and water skiing. In the summer the trout and salmon dive as deep as they can, looking for cool water. There are a few spots to rent boats and a number of camping areas... More

We visit with family and we are never, never, disappointed! The lake is large, beautiful and lots of fish! The location offers view of Mount Lassen and the surrounding terrain that is very enjoyable. If you go, get in a boat on the water, whether to sight see, fish or other watersports, it is fantastic!

I went to see the blood-lunar eclipse and it was amazing here. Bring a jacket as it get cools at dusk.

Stayed at North Shore Campground for a week. Very nice campground with really clean and spacious bathrooms with showers. Lovely view of lake, although PG&E drains in to a fairly low level after July 4th. Still had gorgeous view of shorebirds and Lassen Peak. The campsites are rather small, but the place is so well run and managed and there... More

The lake was very clean and smooth on the day we rented a pontoon for the family. With the ongoing drought you can see some of the lake bed near the shoreline.

Because of the drought in California, water level is low. The water is warm, so fish are not biting. The fish that are caught have parasites and the beach on the west side is not safe for swimming due to a large, green algal bloom (probably caused by nitrogen fertilizer run-off from the 3 golf courses near the lake.) I... More

Lake Almanor is Awesome! The water is great and warm in the Summer. The beauty here is in all 4 seasons. A rare volcano sits beyond the lake and makes a perfect backdrop for photos.
