Not to be confused with Carpinteria City beach, the State Beach, which is located just off the California 1, is a great stop if you've got an hour or two to kill as you drive down the coast. Parking is a mandatory $10 so it's not worth it if you're just popping by. The beach itself is long and clean,... More

Carpinteria still retains the charm of a small town California beach town. It can get crowded at times but if you time it right it is fine. Take the time to walk down the beach to the south - you might run into some sea lions. The weather is usually fabulous!

We LOVE Carpinteria but only because we are on Beach Row. The first time we had Santa Rosa #67, which is ridiculously tiny. The fire ring sat less than 2 feet from the bak of our trailer and and another 2 feet to the fence and road. We did fall on love with the beach and were determined to get... More

We were here for a week the beginning of July. Pro:This beach has nice sand. Waves are fun to play in. Beach is good for walking. Con: Crowded, difficult parking, lots of tar in the sand, (have some Goo Gone handy), cloudy every morning and sometimes all day, water was cold (62 degrees in July).

There were signs about claiming that Carpinteria State beach was the safest in the country (or perhaps it was state). We didn't see anything to dispute this. Plenty of families about. Nice wide beach, nice and sandy, plenty of free parking nearby (we were there on a Sunday morning). All in all a nice place to enjoy the Californian sunshine

The sand was lovely and the beach was very clean. Lots of life guards around made it feel safe. The waves were lovely.

Carpinteria city beach has a little stand where you can rent boogie boards. It is a wonderful afternoon at the beach and even beginners can catch a wave safely. It is said it is the worlds safest beach. DO NOT MISS.

This beach is super kid friendly with gentle waves and lots of play space. Surfing can be found at the point just down the beach! Walk up Linden Avenue for cute shops, great ice cream and fantastic burgers at the Spot.

I always like to stroll down Linden Avenue to the State beach after a meal at The Palms. In the evening during the summer, it is tranquil and calm. Weekends are a bit packed during the summer, but it is one beautiful beach to hang out at for the day that's for sure. Life guard stations and shower/restroom facilities are... More
