There is a nice campground here and it was full when we drove through. You can see the beautiful sunset from the beach here.

Carpinteria, home to about 16,000 lucky locals, feels like it doubles in size during the summer - what with one of California's best campsites, (right on the beach!) - to the multitude of vacation rentals that fill up - and the myriad of 'day trippers' that drop in from May through October. Still, 'Carp' (as the locals call it), has... More

It's often said that Carpinteria is like numerous other beach towns from decades past before those towns succumbed to tourist interests. Here you will find swim-suited pedestrians, bike-cruisers and skateboarders slowly toodling around town in symbolic reverence to the beach-side lifestyle that is Southern California. Let go of any hang-ups and stresses you may have and let the iodine-laced ocean... More

Carpinteria state beach has been our favorite for years. Gentle slope makes it fun for all ages. We love to go see the sea lions when they are there and once in a while see dolphins close to shore.

This is the public beach in town. it is a good wide beach with many people there, and the hamburger stand close by for foods and drinks. It looks good to me !

The beach is long and rock free. The waves were gentle (and the locals said the waves were higher than normal). On our travel down the coast of California, this has been the nicest beach we have visited so far!

Simply wonderful beach. We paid the $10 to park inside the state park. I was told that there is plenty of free parking 2-3 blocks away but we didn't want to carry cooler that far. The park has very good amenities. Bathrooms and changing rooms. Covered/uncovered picnic areas. Nice camping spots. (we didn't camp but do a lot of camping... More

Carpinteria is a quiet quaint town with a beautiful beach, small waves (protected by the Channel Islands), and lots of things to do. It's a little corner of paradise.
