Love this campground. We camp here every Spring Break and if you want a great site you have to be online 6 months in advance right at 8AM. Nice bathrooms with flush toilets and decent, coin-operated showers. Within walking distance of town, although we typically ride our bikes everywhere. 15 minutes from Santa Barbara and lots of nearby adventure. Although,... More

I stopped here on a very nice sunny day in October. The views of the Pacific Ocean are nice here. There is a shaded campground. There is also a nice picnic area (on the other side of the sandy dune area - so no ocean views from there.). There is a state park fee to go here. Or if lucky,... More

Not to be confused with Carpinteria City beach, the State Beach, which is located just off the California 1, is a great stop if you've got an hour or two to kill as you drive down the coast. Parking is a mandatory $10 so it's not worth it if you're just popping by. The beach itself is long and clean,... More

Carpinteria still retains the charm of a small town California beach town. It can get crowded at times but if you time it right it is fine. Take the time to walk down the beach to the south - you might run into some sea lions. The weather is usually fabulous!

We LOVE Carpinteria but only because we are on Beach Row. The first time we had Santa Rosa #67, which is ridiculously tiny. The fire ring sat less than 2 feet from the bak of our trailer and and another 2 feet to the fence and road. We did fall on love with the beach and were determined to get... More

We were here for a week the beginning of July. Pro:This beach has nice sand. Waves are fun to play in. Beach is good for walking. Con: Crowded, difficult parking, lots of tar in the sand, (have some Goo Gone handy), cloudy every morning and sometimes all day, water was cold (62 degrees in July).

There were signs about claiming that Carpinteria State beach was the safest in the country (or perhaps it was state). We didn't see anything to dispute this. Plenty of families about. Nice wide beach, nice and sandy, plenty of free parking nearby (we were there on a Sunday morning). All in all a nice place to enjoy the Californian sunshine

The sand was lovely and the beach was very clean. Lots of life guards around made it feel safe. The waves were lovely.
