I've never quite seen a road like this before. It felt like I was driving in someone's front yard at times and at one point, I thought I'd drive right into the ocean! Keep to the speed limit and smile, this road is windy and beautiful!

I got some spectacular sunset pictures from this area. You can walk between some classic houses on one side and the beach and Carmel Bay on the other. The beach is wide and long. Even with a lot of people on it, it doesn't look crowded.

We loved our long walk along the walkway, seeing the magnificent homes, crashing waves, rocky outcroppings, sitting on a bench from time to time to enjoy the Monterey Cypress. Relaxing, envigorating, gorgeous, and romantic!

Hard to imagine may places where man can improve on nature but the houses set in amongst the windblown trees is incredible. Finished off by the amazing Frank Lloyd Wright copper roofed house on the beach.

You can drive this road too. It's gorgeous. Start from Ocean Ave. Need to drive this road slowly as it has a very sharp turn but what a view of the ocean.

First, the cypress trees are amazing. The walkway winds around Carmel beach, which is gorgeous, but equally as incredible are the houses along the roadway and throughout the area. They are so unique, like wandering through a gingerbread village. The waves crash at the shore in different spots. A haven for photographers! I ended each day of my visit to... More

It can be really tough to find parking around here. If you do find it, you don't want to give up your spot to see further down the way. So... bring bikes. Park once and use your bike to travel all along the water way. On a bike you can sometimes move faster than cars waiting for parking spots. But... More

The winding pathway around ancient cypress trees overlooking Carmel's mile long beach to the curling waves of the Pacific Ocean is an experience like none other. If it's the sand you want, meander down a stairway to the ocean's edge. Whether windy and foggy or sunny and warm, the walk is invigorating and beautiful.
