Well, it has been at least forty years since I have been in the Forest Theater and I understand they are doing a renovation. Here are my memories. The Theater was a place for local folks of all ages to participate in summer theater. As a teenager I was one of the geishas in 'Teahouse of the August Moon', my... More

The Forest Theater is a wonderful place to see a show, and now that it's being renovated, let's hope 2015 will see it back in action and better than ever. Make sure to see something produced by Pac Rep, take a picnic and a bottle of wine (and dress warmly) and you're almost guaranteed a perfect evening.

Took my daughter to see wizard of oz here when she was 5 years old. Quaint little open air theatre in Carmel. We had such a good time and it was the perfect summer evening. My daughter has fond memories and periodically asks to go back. Will be returning on a future trip.

The Forest Theater is located within the Monterey Pine Forest of Carmel. Historically, it was the gathering place for summer plays involving the locals. It continues to this day with excellent productions produced and directed under the auspices of Pac Rep, a local theatrical company. Take a picnic supper, wrap up warmly and enjoy Carmel's theater under the stars.

What a great venue! The Carmel Forest Theater's "FILMS IN THE FOREST" show classic films and documentaries on the big screen - all OUTDOORS, at night under the stars! You can watch the sunset through the trees and sometimes they have mini-bonfires burning. Dress in layers (however, some nights are fabulous, weather-wise) and bring a blanket for your bum. Seating... More

Watched "Snow While and the Seven Dwarfs" and "Peter Pan" in 2013, both on Sunday afternoons. Both were very enjoyable experiences. The quality of acting, singing, and direction were amazing. So many children came to see the shows and none created any fuss. Parking may be a bit of a problem. Also, since this is an open theater, weather can... More

How is anyone saying this is not one of the most wonderful experiences in theater you could have????? My boyfriend and I were wandering through Carmel on a little vacation and spotted a sign saying that there was a play in town. When we got here it was the most amazing little experience ever. Not only was it really unique... More

The theater itself is stunning and the seating is intimate. I loved the set design and John Barrymore III as Hamlet was brilliant. It was such a thrill to see so many talented actors on the stage giving great performances. It was one of the best theater experiences I've ever had. There is a good mixture of comedy and drama... We attended the opening of Hamlet. The theater was beautiful. Fires burning in the fireplaces aside the stage made for an enchanted setting. The only problem was the acting. To be sure this is community theater but then don't try something ambitious as hamlet. Some actors were good for example Polonius and Hamlet. Others seemed to be reading from cue... More

Forest Theater is an outdoor theater surrounded by tall Monterey pine trees. A nice intimate theater - great for the occasional movie showing or live play or musical. Founded in 1910 it was one of the earliest ampitheaters in the West. Currently run by a non-profit organization it has continued a long tradition of community theater. Highly recommend it -... More
