To find a facility of the Sunset Center's quality in a small town like Carmel is extraordinary. It is immaculately maintained and features artists you'd expect to see in much larger venues. The acoustics are perfect and the sight lines (except the back three rows in the orchestra) are great. It only seats about 700 people so it's always easy... More

The sound in this theater is awesome. The perfect size venue where you feel like you are a participant and not just an observer. We check for our favorites often and fly out to see them. It is well worth it!

Art/show center-this was the hub for the film fest--they have concerts and events-done up right--all of these things are what give Carmel its uniqueness

This 700 seat playhouse is newly renovated with lots of attention paid to acoustics & lighting. The management tries to book interesting & diverse programs. Coming to Sunset allows also a visit to one or more of the 60+ art galleries in town and a treat at one of the 50+ outstanding restaurants several blocks away.

Saw the entire 2013 Season of the Monterey Symphony here - we LOVED every second of every performance! Comfortable seating with beautiful sound did full justice to the orchestra. Nice concessions too and ample parking. Fair ticket prices and great view from all areas. Always sit in front - have been DELIGHTED! Accomodating with views, preferences, etc. and I will... More

I heard the Monterey Symphony perform a Mahler Symphony there, and the acoustics were just dead. Poor Mahler ... he would not have been happy. I've not heard anything amplified in the hall ... might be better.

Carmel's Sunset Cultural Center offers a wide selection of concerts and events. Best known for Carmel's annual Bach Festival, it also hosts smaller intimate concerts and symphony concerts. The seating is comfortable, and while it was totally refurbished and modified, the sound can be hit and miss.

We moved to Carmel 10 years ago for it's beauty and culture.Sunset Center received a $25 million upgrade in 2002 and I sang in the Bach Festival then. For classical music fans,Bach Festival and Carmel Music Society present world class music without the frenzy of big city parking, traffic, and cost. The center is architecturally referencing the Mission, with state of the art acoustics.Every...
