My husband and I visited The Cheese Shop twice in September. We had excellent service from Dan and Matt but very unfriendly service from Rachel, who seemed to want to be elsewhere (it is a shame someone with such a bad attitude works at the shop). The samples were varied and very generous and the picnic lunches we assembled were... More

We were amazed at the cheese options. We were able to sample many many different cheeses and selected some to take to our Daughter and for ourselves. I love this place.

This is not a shop, it is an experience. Plan to spend some time (and money) here. The person who helped us asked what sort of cheeses we like. Then we sampled about 5 or so. It was fun, something I consider a rare experience. We also tasted salami. He packed it nicely for a picnic. They have wine, soda,... More

We targeted Carmel coming , a rather long way, from San Francisco, during vacation time. As we enjoyed the charm of that old far west place , I remembered to have read about this interesting business idea so we inquired about its whereabouts . It's been not easy to find it ! Some of the locals did not know about... More

I came to town to visit a friend and she took me to Carmel by the Sea. She knows I love cheese and her mom suggested taking me to The Cheese Shop. The employees were so friendly (as well as easy on the eyes!) and knowledgable about the cheeses. We chose three cheeses to have for lunch with a half... More

I was on a trip with my cousin. We were passing through Carmel on our way south and found this place. We are both cheese lovers so we had to stop. They have massive amounts of cheese and they let you try so much. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and nice. Everyone knew so much about cheese. We... More

Fun, quaint shop full of cheese! The staff was so friendly; our salesman - it was his 1st day on the job, so polite and being trained on the job well. Love the cheese samples. The goudas were yummy!

Some go to the Carmel mission for a religious experience, I prefer The Cheese Shop. Once you taste their aged gouda, you will understand. Knowledgable, helpful staff and passionate owner make this little shop a joy to visit. Go, sample, and get some cheese (and wine and accoutrements) and have a picnic at one of the local beaches.

We have NOTHING like this. Incredible selection, knowledgeable and patient personnel, and so much fun. Mouthwatering cheeses - we had two partial bottles of very good Santa Lucia Highlands wines from previous dinners that we needed to finish before we left Carmel - we did and flew back to Houston with the leftover cheeses, salamis and crackers and wish we... I didn't become a cheese "snob" till I was introduced to the best. The owner here is fabulous and he has trained his staff well. You can sample cheeses from all over the world here before you buy. There is always something new to try. You can try different animal's milk cheese, such as cow, goat, sheep & buffalo. After... More
