POINT LOBOS

VERY crowded in the Summer months, so if you prefer a less crowded area with parking accessability try to go during the off season. I would personally wait for Fall/Winter.

Brilliant colours, spectacular views-the steep stairs may look intimidating but trust me, the gibson beach and China cove is worth it! The China cove beach access was closed, however we were able to go to the Gibson beach and had an amazing time just marvelling the beauty and enjoying the waves.

This cove was so beautiful. It was extra special because the sea otters were out playing in it. I could have spent hours here. The water was so bright and clear, I felt like I was on a tropical island!

We visited Point Lobos specifically to see China Cove and Gibson Beach and it was absolutely worth it. The seals were pupping during our visit so unfortunately we were not able to walk down to the beach in China Cove, but the Gibson Beach access was open and desolate and just unbelievable. We were the only ones on the stretch... More

On our honeymoon we were delighted to stumble across the our "own" beach. We visited on a quiet day and enjoyed soaking up the spring sunshine on this beautiful beach.

China Cove and Gibson Beach are in the southern most area of Point Lobos State Park. Here are some tips on enjoying your visit to China Cove and Gibson Beach. 1. Dogs not allowed (what? this is Carmel!) , and bicyclists allowed only on paved roads leading to the parking lots, not on any of the trails. No RVs allowed... More

A beautiful spot, among many within Point Lobos State Park. The green colour of the water is spectacular!

After hiking and exploring all day, we ran into China Cove and Gibson Beach at the very end of our day...I wish we would have discovered it in the beginning! These two spots just took my breath away by how amazing and pretty the beach/water was! Only a few people were at the beach area taking advantage of such a... More

It is hard to tell which is the best part of Point Lobos Park. But this is definitely one of the best! Views of seabirds and sea animals... Amazing place!
