The staff was warm and knowledgable. The atmosphere was totally relaxed. There was a large steam room- very hot and clean. And a very large sauna. From what I can remember they had at least 3 pools each ( maybe 4) of ice cold, cold, warm and hot. The bottom line was that the facility was well equipped and spacious.... More

Tubs frequently broken, management is rude, customer service is awful, they have people that walk around shushing you all the time even if you need to whisper something to your companion. If that's what you want for $45 per person or whatever it costs now, be my guest.

This day spa is in beautiful outdoor setting nestled in the hills. There were many pools to choose from and a nice dry sauna. The wet sauna was really small given the size of everything else. My friend and I went on a Sunday and it was already full enough for me. I have heard that it can get much... More

My husband and I headed to Refuge to start out my birthday arriving right when they opened at 10 am. We opted to use the robes which are rented at $12 - they are of the softest cotton - but robe rental was not a requirement. The staff were wonderful helping us along as we had no experience with a... The first two times I went to refuge I really enjoyed myself, although the second time I was told to be quiet for whispering for like 2 seconds! Today was my third time and I was highly disappointed. There were groups of people talking LOUDLY, making out, and on their phones their whole time there. Numerous employees walked by these... More

I really wish to like Refuge but probably not going back there again. We were 20mins late due to the traffic ( even called to let them know and they made it sound like its ok) we end up got 20 mins massage but paid for 1 hr!! The manager did not care too much maybe because they already have... More

If you are looking for a way to unwind, recharge and truly reach a state of pure peace then this is the place for you. The facilities are excellent and well maintained. The robes are divine and the policy of "quiet" is respected. This is my second visit - this time I was travelling with my husband and dragged him... More

Just a few minutes up Carmel Valley Road, Refuge is an attraction worth pulling yourself away from the beauty of the seaside bliss on the Monterey Penninsula. We were so relaxed that we took 3 naps in 3 hours. The eucalypsis steam and them the COLD plunge...AHHHHHH...JUST DO IT. The tingling in your whole body is fantastic. Then go lay... More
