The place is gorgeous (right near Pebble Beach golf course), the price is reasonable (enjoyed the group lesson), and the instruction was awesome (thanks, Ryan). I learned to surf(a bit, anyway) in two hours! Definitely give them a try.

For those thinking about learning how to surf and ponder whether to get a coach or try it yourself: don´t think – get a coach! Rick was able to help us to really see and experience how much fun surfing is. We were at Carmel beach with my 7-year old son. Especially with kids you really need to be careful... More

Bad Day. Made reservations for my 7 & 8 year old kids to take surf lessons. (They surfed in Capitola a year ago.) Instructor Rick should not have subjected our kids to the size waves that were out there that day. They may have lost their interest in surfing. He did not pay attention to them as he promised them... More

These guys gave us a great experience and were very friendly and accommodating. I am guessing that they don't get many requests to teach lessons while having to let my husband and i switch off watching our baby, but they made it happen. We had a 7 month baby in tow on our recent trip and no one to watch... More

Had a great beginner's surf lesson by the folks at South Bay surf riders. The staff are fun and encouraging. The experience was one that stood out for us during our week long trip in California. They squeezed us in with minimal trouble for a next day lesson when we were in town. I would recommend this as an activity... More

We scheduled a group beginner sufting lesson for my 15 year old daughter. It was a great experience for her and painless for her mother! Very professional group, we would recommend this to any family and will be back! Laure and Sierra Colorado

We went on a surf lesson with Adam from South Bay, he was extremely passionate and it really made the lesson that much better. They were very professional and we couldn't have asked for a better instructor. There were a few other surf companies that we tried to deal with that were less than professional, would only recommend South Bay.

Last summer I took my family on a week vacation to Monterey. We stayed in Carmel a couple blocks from the beach. I wanted to get away one day to go golfing at Peter Hay in pebble beach but I needed something fun for the kids to do, hopefully to distract them from my absense. I asked the concierge if... More
