Loved the white, fine sand between my toes. We sat and watched the sandpipers and pelicans. Visited friendly beach-goers, and walked along the length of beach where the sands "barked" under our feet! The beauty of the crashing waves and fragrance of fresh salty air was amazing.

It is hard to believe Carmel Beach has retained its charm all these years! My husband and I have been visiting Carmel-by-the-sea for over 20 years and, each time we go back, we expect it to be not as awesome as we remember. But, each time, it is still amazing! Dogs run around playing, humans have huge picnics and bonfires... More

The beach was easy to access and was beautiful. Very white sand. had to climb down a hill to get to the beach so didn't really enjoy the climb back up to get to the parking lot. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Didn't swim, just walked the beach. A lot of natural beauty. Tip: when facing the water, walk to your left for the best view. (This is probably south.). On the way back, climb the steps and walk along the sidewalk/street to look at the homes. A definate must in Carmel!

It wasn't too packed when we were there but this beach is for viewing.Too cold to get in the water or sunbathe. Kind of fun to watch the dogs that run freely. Gorgeous views.Nice area for picnic or fire at night.

Love that people seems to all show up at sunset to sit on the sand a watch the daily light show of sun into horizon.

I love Carmel Beach. There is plenty of nearby parking or it is a 5 minute walk from downtown Carmel. The beach is very clean and the sand is soft and white. One of my favorite things about the beach is all the dogs, which were all very well-behaved. The first time I visited this beach was on a romantic... More

Waves are quite powerful. I wouldn't have let my small kids swim. Loved the views of pebble beach and the fabulous architecture.

Somehow we never made it to Carmel Beach during the day, but we enjoyed watching a beautiful sunset in the evening! Make time to enjoy the white sand beach during the day.

I was able to park by the beach at 9 am, even in August, and go for a long walk on the dry thick white sands. Seaweed and rocks gave forth a real sea smell. I never saw the beach during peak hours, but found it very pleasant in the morning, and companiable feel with (fairly) serious walkers around me.
