We spent 4 days in the Carmel- Monterey- Big Sur area and one of the most enjoyable parts of our trip was taking a long walk up and down the city beach in Carmel. We also visited Pfeiffer Beach, down the coast near Big Sur, and honestly we liked this beach better (Pfeiffer Beach had a lot of flies and... More

Right in town. Not a lot of parking, but you could walk from the streets in the shopping district. Long, wide, beautiful beach. A must see, even if only for 15 minutes.

Absolutely beautiful beach that is free to public! Even though this beach is the beautiful conclusion of the 17-Mile Drive from Monterey, you can still easily get here on Highway 1 within 15 minutes and there's plenty of free public parking too. I highly recommend coming by at sunrise or sunset to experience its full beauty. This is definitely a... More

Love Carmel, beautiful views & sunsets. So relaxing to go for a walk downtown to the end of the street and you are at the Pacific Ocean. A Special place. Unique Artsy little town, full of Fabulous Art Galleries, Restaurants, Shopping. Great spot. I will return many more times, spent four days in Carmel and still didn't do everything we... More

It's easy to get to as it sits right at the end of main street going west. This beach offers free parking for 2-3 hrs and really is picturesque. There are really cool trees that I climbed up. The Pacific and all its glory are just killer. When we went the water was too cold to get in...Carmel is Paradise... More

Right at the end of the main street you'll find a nice beach to walk on. Park your car, even in the business district, and add this to your visit to Carmel. One of the really quaint towns in the USA. This little town has it all. Upscale too. Eat , drink, be merry and shop.

My husband and I went to Carmel for our honeymoon and have been back several times since. The town itself is a tourist trap but the beach is wonderful. We spent hours walking up and down the beach. One evening, the entire town and the beach were covered in fog. It was enchanting.

Carmel gives you a chance to eat some fantastic food in their great restaurants, to make your own meals in the motels/hotels, or just to walk the beach. If you are lucky, you will see people making crafts out of the sand..delightful. A bit off of the beaten path, but well worth going here.

We have been to this beach several times when the ocean is calm. This pristine white sand beach is usually so calm, and perfect for relaxing in the sand. We walked down from our inn for a morning walk on the beach, only to find that at this time they are experiencing high surf, so there is very little beach... More
