This was a quaint area to check out the shops and the area of Carmel. They have buildings that look like something out of a Disney movie, but the residents are so accustomed to them they have no clue what you are talking about so you have to ask about the Tuck House and the Sweet Shoppe.

Not only did we have a wonderful lunch made of local products at the arcade but I also managed to buy a beautiful Persian rug. I have never seen anything like the pattern used in the rug. In addition, there is a pretty little Turkish boot store.

We found the sock shop we had been looking for. Bought LOTS of socks in great patterns. Not your boring corporate type socks [think costco or Kmart]

Many little shops in an interesting setting. We liked Nazar Turkish Imports in particular. Scarves, jewelry, purses, brass items were colorful and reasonably priced.

Carmel Belle is a hidden gem in the Doud Arcade. Excellent breakfasts, sandwiches, and salads. Try the pulled port with carmelized onions.

This was a fun "discovery" I found while exploring Carmel. A charming group of unique little shops selling treasures from around the world. My personal favorite is NAZAR TURKISH IMPORTS. They offer a wide variety of specialty gift items imported from Turkey. Beautiful jewelry. scarves, etc.. as well as colorful mosaic glass lamps and home décor. Endless fun, artistic items... More

Great variety of shops including a Christmas shop and a sock and candle shop. I always find something to take home as a gift in this little arcade.

A hidden mall off Ocean Avenue with crafts and other shops - not your normal tourist shops - with a great open restaurant, Carmel Belle.

The Peppercorn? It hasn't even existed for years. The Doud Arcade is my favorite place to shop for unique gifts for friends and family. The Carmel Hat Company has a huge assortment of wonderful hats, The Sock Shop has a zillion unique socks and candles, Robin's Jewelry sells all original, beautiful handmade jewelry by Robin, La Belle Carmel and Aw...
