Nice beach, not crowded. however in Dec you want a jacket/sweater at all times as the air can cool down quickly.

Love the fact you could walk on the upper sidewalk or the lower sidewalk right on the beach. Tons of people walking & running all times of day. Carlsbad was a very clean town and beach. Can't wait to go and visit again.

Carlsbad has a lovely stretch of sand, big waves at times, surfers to watch, terrific sunrises and sunsets. It is not as crowded as many of the other Southern California beaches.

Our grandsons and granddaughter had a ball surfing at this beach even in winter. They had rented wetsuits and boards and loved it. Good clean beach.

This was a surprise. The Cleanliness and size of the beach is wonderful. Access is very good. We were there in November so did not try the water temperature but I am pretty sure the wet suits worn by the surfers told the tale. Better than Manly Beach in Sydney.

We stayed at Hilton Garden across from the beach. Great time on the waves! Water was warm and did a lot of boogie boarding.

My husband and I arrived at Ocean Palms for what we hoped would be a relaxing weekend. When we were sitting in the Jacuzzi we were inundated with teenagers who were disrespectful and barged in on our relaxing hot tub moment. They used their language to disgruntle everyone around them and cannonballs to shower us with water . The problem... More

We loved the natural feel. The rocks, the vegetation, and everything else just made it feel right. It was not overcrowded and felt like you were on a REAL beach and not just a tourist attraction.

This is a great beach for just hanging out. There's a little pocket park with benches overlooking it if you don't have time or don't want to get in the sand. Awesome view of the sunset every night, and a nice place to start or finish a long run along the beach. My favorite beach!
