Leo Carillo Ranch is a fun place to visit to experience what life was like on a ranch in Southern California in the 1950's. Ranch buildings and grounds are well-maintained, and the volunteer staff is very helpful. An added attraction is the numerous peacocks and peahens running around and perching on roofs. You can walk around on your own or... More

We live in Carlsbad for awhile and had seen it from the outside gate but didn't thing about going until last weekend we did. It surprising that all this sits here. Very cool to walk around. See the gardens and buildings. Very cool..

Beautiful grounds with great photo opportunities. Started with the short film that gave you a glimpse and then took the tour. I strongly suggest the tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and had a bunch of interesting facts and stories. Peacocks roam the property which is fun. Check the times for the tours, I believe they are only at certain... More

This is a magical place of history, hard work, celebrities, parties, family, fun and a very good man of unequaled kindness, generosity and talent. In an era of "HOLLYWOOD!", Leo made a place to get away from the hustle and bustle and return to his Spanish roots. From botany and spineless cactus to ornithology and the pea fowl there is... More

I live in Carlsbad and this continues to be one of our best kept secrets. This bit of early California history tucked away in an unassuming Carlsbad canyon is a jewel! It's self-guided except that on Saturdays they have two tours led by very knowledgeable docents. The star of course is Leo Carrillo, whose story will amaze you. Wander the... More

What an interesting life he led. I remembered him from "The Cicso Kid", but didn't realize what a good citizen he was. Recommend this place to all in the area.

Where to start. The Cisco Kid was one of my favorite memories from when I was young. Rarely missed an episode. Poncho, his sidekick, was a likeable partner with a thick Mexican accent that was always jolly, a little childlike and managed to always get himself in a little trouble to spice up the show. Little did I know, when... More

Wow, it was unexpectedly breathtaking beautiful. We didn't anticipate 360 degrees panorama on San Diego Bay. You could easily spend two-three hours there.
