I live in Carlsbad and this continues to be one of our best kept secrets. This bit of early California history tucked away in an unassuming Carlsbad canyon is a jewel! It's self-guided except that on Saturdays they have two tours led by very knowledgeable docents. The star of course is Leo Carrillo, whose story will amaze you. Wander the... More

What an interesting life he led. I remembered him from "The Cicso Kid", but didn't realize what a good citizen he was. Recommend this place to all in the area.

Little did I know, when... More

Wow, it was unexpectedly breathtaking beautiful. We didn't anticipate 360 degrees panorama on San Diego Bay. You could easily spend two-three hours there.

I wanted to see this ranch since I love history & historical landmarks especially adobes. It was nice but I wish I could have come during a weekend to see the inside of the buildings. It was nice to see the outside but I feel that seeing the furniture inside etc tells a whole story. The people at the visiting... More

Great walking for up to 4.5 miles with views of the ranch and all the very old facilities that Leo Carrillo stayed in and rebuilt. The city is also adding new features and enhancing the attractions like the clothing and guns that The Cisco Kid used during his movies he made throughout his career. Lot's of friendly peacocks waltzing around... More

We watched the video and then walked the beautiful grounds. It is great that this piece of history is being watched over and protected for the future. Our family pictures we took here are now highlights of our summer vacation in Carlsbad.
