If you watched TV in the 50's or60's you know this guy. His history is fascinating and his ranch is a piece of old time California. Nice way to spend an hour or so.....there is a place there to view old clips of the TV show. I forgot what a polite, just and humorous character he was: when he shot... More

Maybe we didn't read closely enough, but we made the trip based upon the great reviews and only to learn that they are closed on Mondays. :-( Maybe next time!

We visited on a Sunday in order to take advantage of the guided tour that would allow viewing of the interior of the varios buildings on the property. We started off in the Barn Visitor's Center viewing the film giving the history of Leo Carrillo and the property. Charlie was the guide for our tour and he was filled with... More

When I was a kid, my folks had to herd us out the door as, for my sister and me, The Cisco Kid was a bigger draw than Sunday school. Little did we know then, that the man we were watching took on the role when he was 70 years old. If you visit this historic site, you will be... More

We did a 1 plus hour tour that was very enjoyable. Lovely buildings and scenery. Great history of Leo Carrillo and his life. Very manageable with young family - our docent was a gem.

What a smart move to keep and preserve such a special place. Step on the grounds and you step back into time. It's a great a great place to fantasize what the rural life in San Diego was back in the day. The peacocks are fabulous preening about all day. One thing people and most locals don't know is these... Two free guided tours on Saturday and Sunday, very interesting and well informed guide. Self-guided tours during the weekdays; however, the buildings are only opened by the guide so plan to make your first trip to this ranch on Saturday or Sunday. The peacocks are beautiful (they have over 20) and they roam around freely and pose for some fantastic... More

Serene park with lovely grounds and yup...peacocks! Great place to visit and relax. Depending on the time of year, the city of Carlsbad will have different activities available there. The grounds can also be rented for private events such as anniversaries or weddings...

When this rancho was humming, it must have been a great place to live. The home of Pancho of The Cisco Kid fame, it is a beautiful rancho built of adobe in several buildings using the topography to assist the architecture. Thanks to Mr. Carrillo we have the chance to see (for free) what a Spanish rancho was built like.... More

Take time away from the lovely village of Carlsbad and spend an afternoon at this fascinating glimpse into the past of the area. Leo Carrillo was an actor made famous in the television show "The Cisco Kid" and he bought a huge ranch back in the 1930's. A part of the original ranch remains with adobe buildings, walking paths, lots... More
