Love the hotel & location, didn't like all the steps to/from the beach. Would surely stay there again.

The coaster was on time, clean and comfortable. Cheaper than driving, actually faster too without the rush hour traffic. On top of that, saved money on parking and valet service! Did I mention the beautiful ocean views? Only way to go downtown
Price is right! Try to sit on ocean side of the train for best view. If the Coaster schedule doesn't mesh with yours, you can always hop Amtrak to return (more costly tho).
Fast and on time. Easy to get on and off at Old Town. Convenient to San Diego waterfront museums. Just a fun way to avoid traffic.
Ditch your car for the day and take the train. We walked to the train depot in Carlsbad so did not have to worry about parking but you can park there for free. Train was clean and we were told to sit on the upper part of the train to see all the views. The rate for round trip is...

We live in Oceanside and love to take the Coaster to San Diego. From the Santa Fe station you can get the trolley to take you to other areas of San Diego, but there are a lot of things to do and see just within walking distance.
If you hate driving the Southern California Freeways as much as I do but want to see all the attractions, take the Coaster, the commuter train starting in Oceanside and ending at the Santa Fe Station in downtown San Diego. The cost of a round trip ticket from Oceanside is $5 for those over 60 and $11 for those over...

We used the Coaster during our recent stay in Carlsbad. It is an excellent way to see the various coastal cities from Oceanside to San Diego as well as go into San Diego for day trips. Very economical way to get around.
Save yourself the hassle and gas. The trip down the coast on the light rail is relaxing and effortless. We took it downtown to a Padres baseball game for the day and it was perfect. Plus, you can drink on the way.
