The beach itself is actually pretty nice, every time we went down there it was almost never crowded. Sometimes on very hot days in the afternoon they'll be a lot of people, but not as much as other beaches. Normally most of the people there where fishermen, good for conversation if you don't mind communicating with locals. My only concern... More

The location is amazing and proximity to the beach is great. However, the staff isn't very friendly and the camping feels urban and dirty. When we showed up our fire put was filled with trash. In the morning we awoke to sounds of chainsaws, cars and neighboring dogs parking. The campsites are too close. Choose your site wisely.

This is a wonderful state park. Its just south of Santa Cruz and has a nice beach area. Its up on the bluff with nice scenic overviews. The camping area and picnic areas are nice. We have spent many days enjoying this delightful state park. Lots of trees in the park so you can get away from the ocean and... More

Walking distance from Monarch Inn, just to the south. Miles long. Walk long enough to see the Cement Boat. Local landmark.

Enjoyed walking the beach from Brighton down to the boardwalk. Weather was perfect and so many people were enjoying the beautiful day. Liked that dogs are allowed on the beach.

We rented bikes in Capitola and rode them to the State Park, it's a beautiful spot. The Santa Cruz County coastline is beautiful

This used to be one of our favorite spots to camp, but in the past few years the State Park system has managed trash the place. For example they have removed a lot of the trees and vegetation that used to help separate the sites and it seems they are trying to turn it into a wide open parking lot.... More
