We had heard that this beach had fossils and great sea glass collecting. We showed up around 2pm and it cost $10 to get a day pass from the California State Parks department, It was cool though. We went down the stairs and found that the surf was very high , we had just arrived at high tide as it... More

Nice city with great shops, pretty beach with lots of surfers. Great vibe and fun place to hang out and view the ocean and surfers. Really lovely setting.

Easy access to the beach and plenty of space on the camp site. Beautiful view of the ocean; soothing wave sound will help you have a tight sleep.

You will need to pay to drive to the base of this beach, but you can save the money by parking above and walking down. Either way, this is one of the treasures of the world in that it has a super long beach, allowing you to walk for hours before having to stop. Feels like it is 5 miles... More

Located in Capitola, this beach has easy access from the freeway. It is a great place for day users or campers, but if camping or taking an RV, you need a reservation ahead of time during peak spring and summer months. As a day use park, it is quite delightful with a long, smooth, beach.

Or is it the other way around, a nice beach with a campground? The campground if on top of the bluff overlooking the beach. Premium sites sell for $50/night versus $35/night. Premium sites are closest to the bluff and give you a private cute of the beach. Sadly, they don't let you pick a site after looking at it, you... More

Fun weekend with kids-if you look on VRBO you can find a rental in the private community that is in the state park! Love this beach-it can get cold but it is lovely-romantic and family friendly!

My husband and I recently camped at New Brighton State Beach campground after hearing for a couple years that this was a great place to camp close to Santa Cruz. If one is able, visit the campground prior to making a reservation(they don't let you drive through, you can walk it)so you can see how close or far away you... More

A wonderful beach, great waves, an amazing number of birds, I went for a run along the beach and had a really super time. The lifeguards were present and in charge (waves are serious).
