Or is it the other way around, a nice beach with a campground? The campground if on top of the bluff overlooking the beach. Premium sites sell for $50/night versus $35/night. Premium sites are closest to the bluff and give you a private cute of the beach. Sadly, they don't let you pick a site after looking at it, you... More

Fun weekend with kids-if you look on VRBO you can find a rental in the private community that is in the state park! Love this beach-it can get cold but it is lovely-romantic and family friendly!

VERY LONG BEACH, goes on forever so you have plenty of space between. Had a great time. Found sand dollars like crazy there. First time in my life to find on beach!!

My husband and I recently camped at New Brighton State Beach campground after hearing for a couple years that this was a great place to camp close to Santa Cruz. If one is able, visit the campground prior to making a reservation(they don't let you drive through, you can walk it)so you can see how close or far away you... More

A wonderful beach, great waves, an amazing number of birds, I went for a run along the beach and had a really super time. The lifeguards were present and in charge (waves are serious).

It is VERY difficult to get a reservation but luckily we got a site. It was very peaceful and quite most nights. We liked the new metal cabinets to store our food and things. The raccoons and skunks were out at night but not successful in stealing our food. Safeway is close for shopping maybe 1 1/2 miles away and... More

This time the beach was dirty! I was disappointed! We didn't camp here but was there for a day trip. I hope it was fluke!

Tucked in at the inner curve of Monterey Bay, New Brighton is protected from the big waves and the wind and the worst of the fog, so that you get a nice little micro-climate that's warmer, sunnier and calmer than most of the beaches in the area. They do have a bathroom and park rangers do patrol the beach regularly,... More

We had a fabulous time camping the last weekend of June! Steps away from the ocean and Only a few exits from the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. My girls 3 and 7 had a blast not letting the waves touch them. (Definitely life jacket water) The restrooms are well kept and the showers were always warm ($0.25 per 2 minutes for... More
