Pretty views of wharf. The wharf is pretty big. Ocean waves come in soft and steady, so a calming effect after busy day.

Walked out to the Capitola Pier and had breakfast. Had Christmas Eve dinner at the Shadowbrook restaurant which I would highly recommend for a high end and romantic dinner restaurant.

We were there on a rainy winter day. Small, and nice treat to be right on the beach with city stores and food around. However, amazing beaches are in this area and would spend the day at some of those beaches versus this one. New Brighton is nice...

We returned to Capitola City Beach. We first saw the town's Christmas tree and then went to the beach area. It was very nice even in December.

I use the opportunity to go into Capitola Village as a park away and walk in along either cliff...for excercise. My favorite time is Wed Nights during the Twilight Music Concerts over the summer. Bring friends, walk, listen and dance to the music, have a drink or dine. THIS IS THE LIFE of smiles!

Great family beach with shops and restaurants close by in a very nice village atmosphere. Safe and pleasant. Nice Esplanande along beach edge with broad walkway and benches facing the water too! Music on some summer weekend evenings at the band shell, we caught an outdoor movie one weekday evening. Clean bathrooms with showers outside to wash off the sand.

There are two sides to this beach, one of which disappears at high tide. The adjoining Capitola Wharf is worth a stroll, especially if you eat at the only restaurant on the wharf. Unlike the State Park beaches and the main beach in Santa Cruz, you will find only locals here, friendly, and few crowds. A wonderful experience along the... More

This is a gem of a place particularly after the crowds have left when the summer is over. Lots of restaurants overlooking the ocean, and cute shops in Capitola Village. During the summer, it is crowded, so have patience if you are planning a trip and looking for parking. However, they have free twilight concerts on the beach during the... More

It's my home, and I wouldn't live anywhere else. The beach is a leisurely stroll, and on chilly winter days, it's nearly empty, making a stroll more fun. The Esplanade is always welcoming, brimming with local pubs and eateries. If you like a locals-style bar, the Sand Bar is for you (211 Esplanade). The wait staff is very friendly, the... More
