The weather was nice, the location very good, and right next to downtown Capitola. The power went out in town while we were there but several businesses stayed open. This is a nice beach but way too crowded for my tastes.

Tons of shopping and restaurant choices right on the beach, and a very cool little Capitola Hotel, as well

If you have a day to spend near the Santa Cruz area, this is the place to be with your family. Pros - It's so close to the bay area and the area to the left of the beach is ideal for boogie boarding with the kids. My 9 yrs old daugther loves it, and spent the whole summer doing... More

Stayed three days...oldsters read and walked, youngsters surfed and sunbathed. Just the people watching was great. All was just as a short vacation should be...surf, sand, sun...aaahh.

There are so many great beaches in this area. I am not a fan of this beach. It's small and not clean. It's very calm for smaller kids, but there is always kelp and even trash. It does not smell great. Feels dirty. Small cove style beach. Always packed with people.

Beautiful beach with too many tourists. Lots of shops and restaurants. Live music every Wednesday during the summer. A good spot a family vacation.

The beach was quite crowded on a Thursday afternoon. Surrounding the beach are a number of eateries and watering holes. The food is great in a few and not so great in others. To avoid disappointment, check reviews before selecting one. Capitola is a more affluent town; there are few derelicts on the street compared to Santa Cruz. Traffic and... More

Capitola Beach is a great place to people watch. There are many people on the sand, in the water and on the sidewalks. The beach is narrow, so the walk to the water is short. The topography drops off quickly, allowing large waves to crash right onto the sand. Not a great place for small children, but the teenagers love... More

Capitols beach is in a charming neighbourhood with nice shops for beach bums. An ideal family stop - if you can get close. Easy and safe surf for kids. Parking most weekdays is difficult at best, impossible on weekends.Even though a shuttle bus was advertised to and from the beach, we never saw one.

I believe dinner is served, as well, as lunch & breakfast. Nice assortment of healthful foods: soups, salads, sandwiches. Yogurt and granola available for breakfast. When we ate at the 1475 41ST Ave, Suite A2, Capitola, CA site, it appeared short handed. Also, a new staff member was early in training. Waits were long and mistakes were made in our... More
