if you are a normal, humble person who doesn't look like a model, then you will be shunned at Capitola City Beach. It's clearly a place for the Rich and Beautiful. I was staying in a beach rental, and when I tried to get my hair done, I was turned away, but the next person wasn't. I'm sure I was... More

This beach had benches where you could sit and enjoy the beach even if you weren't actually on the sand. Restaurants and shops were nearby with outdoor dining. Seems like most folks brought pizza boxes to the beach from nearby eatery. A great place to enjoy the sun and sand.

This is a nice place to stroll through the small unique gift shops and have lunch. The area reminded me of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk without the carnival atmosphere and crowds. Parking can be a little tough but if you get there early 10 AM (+/-) you will find plenty of street (metered) parking. If you get tired of the... More

What a cute little beach town. Lots of restaurants and little shops around. It looks like it would be a very fun place to be on a hot and sunny day!

Don't get me wrong, the town is a quaint seaside gem of a town, but we were really surprised when we finally made it down to the beach that dogs are vehemently not welcome on the sand and nearly all restaurants (even verandas). We've made countless lovely day trips to the coast with our furry friends and the majority seaside... More

I have visited here many times and the beach is a very nice public beach. It is quite protected so it doesn't get a lot of wind, which is nice. There are public showers available which is nice for rinsing off before going to your car or to eat. I like that it has soft sand and is kept quite... More

This little gem was voted one of the 5 Best Coastal Towns in Sunset magazine for a reason: http://www.sunset.com/travel/ocean-towns Being California's oldest seaside resort town, Capitola is only 1.7 square miles in size. But this little gem of a town exemplifies quality over quantity. See the Soquel Creek drain into the ocean surrounded by a Euro style little seaside village... More

Quaint, with several small beach areas divided by small reefs that seem to give you some added space. Nice for small children. Dogs are not allowed on the main beach but there is a very nice long sliver of beach below the promenade near where the rest rooms are. What I found is that if you jump on the beach... More

A lovely golden sand beach, very popular on warm days. Definitely the kind of place that you want to spend the afternoon at. Parking is bad, so be prepared to park in the big lot behind the police station and haul all your gear the 2 blocks to the beach (many folks bring a little wagon). The Esplanade is chock-a-block...
