Different from the norm, but so unique and tasty! The main person providing our wine broke out a guitar to sing to us! We bought a couple of bottles and recommend without hesitation!

We were welcomed and treated warmly by the staff who took their time with conversation, and explaining the wines to us, even though it was getting busy. The wines were tasty (their port is so good), and the staff was very knowledgeable. Glad we stopped here on our bike tour.

Pulled into the parking area and we could hear the laughter coming from the tasting room. The other tasters and our host had us joining in on the laughter and fun before we got all the way in the door. We had some really good wines, too. It's so individual but we liked the port and the cab. We also... More

We ended our wine country trip by visiting Lava Vine and what a fantastic place to do so! We had heard a few people talk about this place and decided we just had to check it out. It's just a small place along the Silverado Trail but so much fun! We arrived at 4:50pm on Friday and they close at... More

Stopped at Lava Vine on the Silverado Trail just outside Calistoga. Small, unpretentious and great fun. The wine masters were funny and entertaining ~ it was a like a party with everyone being treated as the special guest. Lots of laughs, spontaneous musical entertainment behind the bar, and great cabernets! Very reasonable tasting fee of $10 waived with purchase. This... More

We were in Calistoga recently for a few days of wine tasting and dining. Our first day we tried Cuvaison winery and the wines were good. We asked “where else should we try”. She said you’ve got to try Lava Vine, it’s just up the road and it’s a fun place, maybe they’ll even play some banjo music for you.... More

Such a laid back place, that is truly making some of the best wine around. we went as part of our honeymoon trip, and are still raving about the wine. We couldn't buy enough of it!

The wine was almost as good as the bluegrass music being played. We were a group of 5 couples and did not know what to expect from this place and visited based on other Tripadvisor reviews and a tasting room hostess from a previous winery. We were glad we visited as the wine was fantastic although at the prices, not... More

This place is a laid back and fun atmosphere. The guys running it were awesome and entertaining. The vibe was like a laid back party and the wine was pretty good. We ended up buying the olive oil though, which was very tasty. A good stop if you are in Calistoga.

This was a very laid back wine tasting experience... We had a private wine tour and our itinerary included this winery. It was very laid back. Paul (I believe? behind the wine bar) was very friendly and knowledgeable about wines, history etc. We enjoyed tasting because even though we are wine novices, we didn't feel like we were surrounded by...
