The wine was almost as good as the bluegrass music being played. We were a group of 5 couples and did not know what to expect from this place and visited based on other Tripadvisor reviews and a tasting room hostess from a previous winery. We were glad we visited as the wine was fantastic although at the prices, not... More

This place is a laid back and fun atmosphere. The guys running it were awesome and entertaining. The vibe was like a laid back party and the wine was pretty good. We ended up buying the olive oil though, which was very tasty. A good stop if you are in Calistoga.

This was a very laid back wine tasting experience... We had a private wine tour and our itinerary included this winery. It was very laid back. Paul (I believe? behind the wine bar) was very friendly and knowledgeable about wines, history etc. We enjoyed tasting because even though we are wine novices, we didn't feel like we were surrounded by... This place has a home like feeling, as if you're tasting wine in a friend's kitchen. The cost for a tasting is very reasonable, just $10 and they allow dogs inside, a big plus for us.

This is a small producer up in Calistoga, with a little tasting room off of Silverado Trail. The tasting fee was $10 for several excellent wines, priced around $30 to $60 per bottle. Their Chenin Blanc was amazing, and I am not usually a fan of this, but theirs is Perfect! They have several reds to taste in an intimate... More

Great wine, excellent service, what else could you ask for. It's pretty small and when we stopped by it was busy. They immediately opened up a garage room for us, threw some tables together and brought out some food. Then immediately just started pouring. The owners were very cool, laid back and so friendly. We were on a tight schedule... More

My husband and I loved Lava vine. The guys working gave us a wine class in an informal fun setting. They we're happy to share there knowledge. Its a small casual vinyar with great wine. They we're generous with there pour . We joined the wine club and have been happy with our wine. Delivery day is like Christmas at... More

We arrived late in the afternoon with two small kids. It was a hit with everybody. The kids played outside with the hens and goats. We had a great and relaxing time inside the tasting room. Staff were very friendly and supercool. Wines both good tasting and interesting. The atmosphere was great: laidback and friendly. It was like being in... More

I mean, seriously: laid back. Chill. Relaxing. My husband and I were just thinking we'd head to any winery within walking distance for one last tasting adventure before walking into town for supper. Checked the iPhone, Lava Vine popped up on the map as the closest. The atmosphere in the tasting room was casual, friendly, with everyone clearly enjoying themselves.... More

I will simply echo the other reviewer sentiments that this is a laid back, fun tasting spot. Well done atmosphere and art with the pottery, photographs, etc. You must stay until you get a guitar song...or buy more wine to prompt it! I must say, in contrast to some other reviews, I found the wines well done, but not to... More
