Lava Vine is a great place to visit for good wine and good times. Every time I visit it's always a new batch of people and a great time with the guys that work there. The atmosphere is super laid back and unlike anything else in the Valley. The wine is great and they carry a lot of varietals. Highly... More

The staff here is very fun. When I say fun, I mean that they broke into songs (with instruments) several times during our visit. One of our group members was playing bongo drums at one point. It was crazy fun and a great way to end the day!

The place I was staying at suggested this place stating it was amazing people recommended it. After reading reviews on here I was very excited. Boy was I very displeased. We walked into a little bar area one tall gentleman was serving everyone. all the samples given that day were written on a scarp piece of paper. Terrible that such... More

My husband and I visited this winery on February 10, 2015. We tasted a number of wines which had a variety of subtle flavors. We purchased two wines - a white wine "Viognier" which is light, fruity and refreshing. We also purchased a port wine - which generally is not a favorite of mine. Another customer was raving about the... More

These guys were a hoot and their wines were great too! We enjoyed our tasting and their enthusiasm for the craft. Definitely worth stopping by.

This place was a lot of fun. The personalities of our hosts and showmanship made the visit memorable. The guys play various musical instruments and sing to the guests. The wine was good. We purchased a bottle from our tasting line-up. For a small winery with a fun feel, this is a must stop!

We visited this winery in December, as part of the "Winter in the Wineries" passport. A smaller vineyard, we were not sure what to expect. I had one of the best experiences in wine country at this place! Included in the tasting was a dessert wine. Our host (cannot remember his name!) broke off a piece of dark chocolate, drizzled... We are Chicagoans who were in Calistoga primarily for rest and relaxation. We weren't into spending big bucks on tastings. At any rate, we ended up at Lava Vine Winery serendipitously-- our friends who live in San Rafel, wanted to bring their dog (we love their dog too) and they researched to find a dog friendly winery and one with... I'm a fan of smaller wineries that don't get lost in pretense - Lava Vine is a cute little winery that I've been fascinated with for a number of years. They serve very good wine but they do so with a friendly smile and good energy. Certainly one to visit if you find yourself near Calistoga.
