We had heard great things about Von Strasser and it did not disappoint. Our host, John, met us in the reception area, poured us a glass of their unique white, and then walked us over the cave for our tasting. Our tasting was a seated tasting in the cave with candles - so pretty and relaxing! Von Strasser had great... More

We had a day of winery tours with Knight Wine Tours (reviewed separately and highly recommended). This was our first stop, and was a GREAT way to start the day. This winery is nestled in among some low hills and is quite picturesque, but the best part was the visit in their wine cave, where we had some fantastic wines... More

My wife and I attended a Von Strasser private wine & cheese pairing (for two) 12/9/13 with John as our guide. We were met in a small reception area however the tasting took place in their wine cave a short walk away. Excellent robust cabs. were paired with excellent hard cheeses. We ended up buying the Spaulding Cab. which was... More

My husband and I visited Von Strasser Winery on our 2nd anniversary as we were traveling in Napa. We fell in love with the wines and joined the wine club. For the past 2 years we have received 4 shipments a year, all of which exceed our expectations. We are looking forward to returning for our 5 year anniversary next... More

Tucked into the Diamond Mountain, this vinyard does a great job with the tasting experience. You can even request a tour, tasting and wine/cheese pairing. The hospitality person Kerry does a great job, knowledgeable and understated. You get the information without the hard sell. The wines sell themselves. This is a great choice for big reds. They also are doing... More

Von Strasser Winery was our first stop up Diamond Mountain. The self acclaimed Vino Vixen, Kerry Baxter, was our tasting leader. We first tasted the very light 2010 Gruner Veltliner by the vineyard and then had a tasting of a variety of some very nice single vineyard cabernets in the cave. Their Post (from the cereal name) and Reserve (2010,... More

We just returned from Napa Valley last week, which started with our first tasting at Von Strasser Winery. Two words, "Highly Recommended", in this case we did not save the "best for last" but rather the "best for first". We had reserved a 10:00 a.m. chocolate and wine pariing and were the only group at the winery at that time.... More

Our tasting this trip was in the cave, but in the past I have tasted on the porch and loved that experience. Given that it was raining the caves was a good choice, lol. My wife and I love the deep flavors that we need to find from the mountain wineries. We love big cabs and Von Strasser does big... More

I discovered Von Strasser Winery first on my wine map of Napa & Sonoma. I read the outstanding reviews on Trip Advisor & Yelp; & decided to make an appointment for a wine/cheese paring in the cave. What a great decision that was! The winery is located on Diamond Mountain in the Calistoga/ Napa area, a little off the beaten... More

This was the second winery that we visited on our first trip to the Napa... we thought the setting and scenery was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. The wines were all top quality across the range, our favourite was the Agira Cabernet for $80. The only thing that surprised us somewhat in the Napa (probably our fault for not expecting this)...
