...far too commercial....the purpose of the staff is to make you become a member due a massive insistance on it! They are missing the great opportunity to teach you more about wine and share experiences with you...!!! dont you even dare to mention other wine experiences you had, you might feel yourself as if you were doing something bad! The... More

We arrived at 11am and the tasting room was packed! Suggest everyone to go as early as possible. Tasting costs 25usd/pax and you get to try 5 different wines. I like their signature Chardonnay the most. Overall, the wine is pricey but it definitely tastes different from a run of the mill wine! Service was prompt and polite. We were... More

Chateau Montelena is a beautiful setting with gorgeous grounds, but very far up from Napa town itself, so depending on where you are coming from it may not be worth the drive. While the grounds are gorgeous I found the tasting room itself a little dark and dingy - maybe because it was summer and a beautiful day outside, so... More

I love the Vine Covered Chateau with all the Shade Trees Providing Relief from the Heat of Summer. Jade Lake is a Wonderful Sight with the Swans Wadding through the water and the Picnic Area is Cool too. Bring a Blanket and a Picnic Basket Full of Food-Drink and Enjoy Lunch in the Shade. The Wines are Amazing too. The... More

When coming to Napa Valley from the north you can pop down over Mt. St. Helena and there you are in a what seems to be a little bit of France! The Chateau is beautiful and wine high end but it is the staff in tasting room that can take you somewhere wonderful. If you decide to join the wine... More

The best part of this winery was the beautiful grounds. There is a super cute picnic area. If you want one of the benches you have to make a reservation, but we just threw down a blanket and picnicked in the grass. The wine tasting experience was just okay. I think the wines were slightly over priced, as none of... More

Chateau Montelena helped launch the California wine industry as portrayed in the movie Bottle Shock. But do you want to know how much was embellished from the true story? Then we highly recommend you sign up for the Beyond Paris and Hollywood Tour. Very interesting when you hear it from the real characters, Bo Barrett and George Tabor via video.... More

We had to visit Chateau Montelena after watching the movie Bottle Shock. It is one of my favorite wine movies. We chose a private wine tasting for $50/person. We did get to try some very expensive wines but that was it, no tour, no gifts. It was nice to hear the history from out guide but I wouldn't spend $50... More

We we're here this weekend and the hype from bottle shock put this place on the map. There are many better wines in the valley, property Is beautiful wine is not so much.

I expected it to be more touristry with big buses.. something out of the end of the movie Sideways. I was surprised with the experience. The man who was pouring was knowledgeable and interesting. It wasn't stuck up and all about the "Paris Tasting" and I would highly recommend it. I'm not a big chardonnay fan which they are known... More
