I'll start off by letting you know, I go to spas and look for the off the beaten track. This was one of them. I went to this 'spa' during a girl's weekend in Napa Valley. We had high hopes for a unique experience and were not disappointed. The facility looked like a 1950's motel/spa, so we adjusted our expectations.... More

Dear spagirl54, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about us! We prefer to refer to ourselves as a hot springs resort and do our best to represent ourselves as honestly and correctly as possible to the public. Photos on our website don't indicate otherwise. We are a mid -century modern, old school, hotel with pools and... More

Just a heads up: mineral water contains sulfur (and so does the volcanic ash), so it will be stinky. Still, this is one of the most amazing treatments you will ever have. The staff is great and attentive, but the portion of the bath house where you do your me bath is not as quiet as I had hoped. Definitely... More

I recently had the mud-bath/massage combo package. This was my first visit. Upon arrival, I felt that the experience felt very rushed and anxious. The ladies tending to the mud baths were very commanding. It was like - get your clothes off and get in the mud!!! I wish they would have taken a softer approach. I didn't really feel... More

Napa Valley in general is pricey when it comes to hotels. This hotel was great for the money. A little older, but clean rooms and friendly staff. We got a patio room and it was loud at night. We were on the second floor but it sounded like the people on the patio were right outside our room even though... More

The place has an archaic "medicinal" appeal and run in a very impersonal, assembly line manner. There is a strict sequence sequence, such as 10 mins in mud bath, 5 mins in tub , 5 mins in steam room etc... You must adhere to this timely fashion, otherwise you will back up the system. But the worse part of my... More

I booked a massage for the pools, I love the pools 102 degrees, 90 and 80 degrees 3 pools in total. They are small so choose a time when they are not busy. The spa has dividers not even room and when you go outside to the pools you go through the spa while people are getting treatments inc. mud... More

I've actually been to Dr. Wilkerson's three times and enjoyed it immensely each time. It's a funky, quirky way to spend an afternoon in Calistoga, a quaint little town in northern Napa. Several packages are available, but this time I did a mudbath and a thirty minute massage. The mudbath-- not for the claustrophobic--is a tub of hot ashy mud.... More

Picture this- a relaxing mud bath, mineral, steam, then you're told they took a walk in and you'll need to wait 35 min for a massage. Talk about un-relaxing (and un-acceptable). I left without the massage, which defeats the entire purpose.

I am so sorry to read this review. We did not take a "walk-in". This guest went through his bath routine in about 30 minutes. The mud bath treatment, including the mud bath, whirlpool bath, mineral steam room and blanket wrap usually takes about 1.5 hours. We offered this guest the next available massage therapist which involved a short wait... More

Describing my experience at Dr. Wilkinson’s is challenging because in the end: I found the treatment relaxing and was glad that I did it. However, there were several odd/uncomfortable steps along that journey. I apologize in advance for the length of the review, but as I was completely unprepared for what to expect, I feel it will improve other travelers... More

I've loved Doc Wilkinson's for years. It's a bit retro and funky with excellent service, wonderful mud baths, outstanding massages, and a touch of true California history. Get "the works" if you really need to recharge and refresh. You will leave a new person.
