Exceptional. You will see and learn so much going out with CA Overland. So make sure you go out with them if you are interested in the geology, the Indians, the history of European explorers and settlement, the birds, mammals and other wildlife and the flora. You'll access parts of the park not open to other 4 wheelers, and learn... More

We could not get over how nice Joe, the owner (?), is. He's very enthusiastic about the dessert, and it's contagious. He also stretched the tour a little long, so that we could enjoy the sunset. We got some great pictures - he had a lot of recommendations for great shots. I highly recommend, and hope to go on another... More

We recently took our 12 year old grandson, Grayson, on a private desert jeep tour with California Overland Tours. All of us of were so impressed by the unique scenery and the wealth of information that Joe shared about the desert and the area. Most of all was Grayson who was impressed enough to convince his 10 year old brother... More

Absolutely brilliant 2 day package of personal jeep tours of the Anza-Borrego Desert. Fantastic guide who knew all of the best and most interesting sites. Joe is a great fund of information on the history, geology, flora and fauna of the entire State Park and is also great company. A wide range of tours is offered; we took a 4... More

My wife and I both love Anza-Borrego State Park. We have been exploring it on our own at least 3 times (with SUVs). This year we booked a private tour with Joe, and we had a marvelous time, discovered new very dramatic places, learned about interesting history, geology, biology, etc. Joe is very knowledgeable and obviously loves the Park. The... More

Just returned from a great Dads and Kids campout in Anza Borrego. The California Overland Jeep Tour team was spectacular. I would highly recommend them for any daytime or overnight camping experience. First class customer service, happy kids and great times. Thanks Joe to you and your team!

My wife and I booked a private Jeep tour with Joe during the "offseason" (September). Offseason because it is hotter than most people can tolerate for 8 hours in the desert! We trusted Joe to take us out and get us lost in the Anza Borrego desert for a day. He did not dissappoint. It easily topped 100 degrees but... More

Joe is a really great guy. I couldn't recommend him or CA Overland highly enough. Joe made special arrangements for a dinner/sunset trip for our family of 5 (three small kids). The plan got derailed when the 114 degree heat turned out to be a bit much for our 6 year old (we are from the far north!). Joe very... More

We ventured to the desert with our family of seven. The ages ranged from 14-46. We really had no idea what to expect. None of us had spent the night in the desert before and not everyone was thrilled with the idea of camping. Joe could not have made this a better trip. The desert tour was educational, beautiful, fun... More

Joe Raffetto is the owner of California Overland Tour and in his opinion, “If you want to really experience the desert, you can’t just drive on a paved road and look at it through a windshield. You’ve got to climb into it, roll through it, and feel it.” Using a five-foot step ladder to get into and out of the... More
