This is an easy (bit rocky) 1.5 mile round trip hike starting from Tamarisk Grove Camp ground. Can be bit difficult for beginners and kids. Park on the road side, pick up a brochure with 14 points of interest on the way to make the hike interesting. This is very informational and can make the hike fun I guess? Actually,... More

Yaqui Well is a good birding stop. You can usually pull over along the road without the rangers stopping you. In winter, there is an excellent chance of seeing bighorns across from the campground.

A relatively easy walk on a well marked trail. Pick up a brochure at the start to learn about the various plants

The campground is just across the road from Yaqui Well. It is a beautiful campground and close to lots of great off road trails. Now that it is Fall/Winter, the desert is a great place to visit.

Most of the State Parks were in sad shape. Poorly kept facilities, which have been abused and beaten by yahoos, intent on destroying anything and everything they can get their hands on...or shoot at or drive over. Any moron can destroy something...we've got way too many morons.

This hike/walk will take about an hour, and the guided trail is very informative. The terrain looks different depending upon what time of year you visit: Beautiful wildflowers in the Spring, stark terrain during Fall/Winter. Bring your camera...
