Doran beach is a wonderful walk from Bodega Bay Lodge, where we were staying. Bird-watching, harbor seals, sandy beach and the ocean. Beaches North of Bodega Bay, such as Salmon Creek, School House, Portuguese beaches are accessed via walkways or paths down cliffs, without ropes or railings....not for cowardly older folks, like us. However, the beach at Goat Rock, where... More

We have been going to Bodega Bay for years. But this weekend was our first time to Doran Beach. Wow have we been missing out. This place is fantastic. We circled a couple times to get a parking space, but once we did we were parked and set up on the beach eating our lunch within 10 minutes. It was... More

Nice beach, great for RV camping with ocean views on both sides, saw some people wind sailing and kayaking. Remember it gets windy.

We did not camp there, we were staying at the Bodega Bay Lodge. We walked along the beach. It was in the afternoon and quite windy (I'd recommend going earlier in the day) and made it about 2/3rds of the way to the end. Lots of birds and just a very pretty area. A romantic walk.

The beach has camping facilities and picnic tables and benches for lunch or dinner. The view is somewhat flat, no spectacular features as many beaches on the north coast have, but a very pleasant place to walk. It was Thanksgiving weekend, and the weather was amazing, so it was very hard to locate a parking place. We enjoyed a nice... More

The beach is sheltered by Bodega Head, so the surf is minimal. The beach also is quite long -- you can walk from the channel near the jetty south for a significant distance.

We just drove through looking for a good beach. There were lots of people camping there. The beach was long and sandy and what appeared to be calm waves, good for children.

This is an easy place to walk (flat) with many access points. Depending on the time of year, you can see all types of wonderful birds - or just people watch. Very quiet and serene.

Doran Beach will be closed from 10/14 to 10/24 for road repaving. This beach is perfect for long walks with or without your dog (on a leash!). The northern end has camping and picnic facilities and can be a bit crowded on holiday weekends. The rest of this long beach has plenty of room for strolling, playing in the sand,... More

Great sandy beach. Waves not too big. Electric charge station at the main parking lot. Of course this is NorCal so the water is not warm so bring your wetsuit. Faces SW so is sheltered form the NW swell and waves.
