Lovely facility, helpful staff, beautiful views, luxurious amenities and classic rooms. But, there is a huge amount of construction (the Meritage restaurant was closed, and other cavernous restaurant looked vacant with few diners) so there is a make-shift lobby and no main entrance. Getting to the outdoor pools and spa requires a walk through the parking lot in your complementary... More

Yes this "old Gal" has been around and yes you may feel like riding a tricycle in the hallways BUT what service! what views! what a health club! wow! I slept like a rock with those windows open....also enjoyed the Thock Thock Thock sound of tennis players. laughter and birds ...That is something you cannot "buy" at most hotels.... close... More

Why don't more people stay here. Spectacular old hotel with stunning views of the bay. Great pool, spa, and restaurant. Much cheaper than San Francisco. The only catch is you'll need to rent a car as there is no public transportation and not much nearby. The rooms are dated, but clean and quaint. I have stayed here a few times... More

I visited with the hotel under renovation and because of that I cannot truly give a 5 star. The hotel is in a great location, overlooking the bay and with a fantastic view of the SF skyline and the Golden Gate. The sport facilities are amazing. Two large pools, tennis courts and a very large gym. The room are large.... More

The good news is that the hotel was purchased by the Fairmont Hotel Group. They will modernize this grand old classic and bring her into the 21st century. However, the views of the bay and San Francisco cityscape plus the excellence of service and the desire to serve make this worthy of a visit now. This tradition of excellence makes... More

Arriving at the Claremont, one cannot help but be impressed with the massive 1915 structure and modestly landscaped grounds. While entry feels like coming in a back entrance, the check-in lobby soars with old world style and a view of a time gone by. Check-in was quick and courteous but be prepared for the resort fee whether you are able... More

The Claremont Hotel and Spa is a unique getaway for alll types.....if you simply want a nice romantic evening, eat at the Meritage and overlook the town of Berkeley while enjoying an excellent meal, or listen to live Jazz at the Paragon. If you would rather have a spa weekend with girlfriends (which was my experience), you'll enjoy a wide... More

The hotel itself has a huge presence it's beautiful as you drive on highway 13. The rooms are okay they're pretty small and it's kind of expensive but it's working for the spa. The spa is world class the best I've ever been to the masseuses are very professional and of course the facilities are excellent.

This is totally worth it and the facilities are beautiful. Hotel guests are able to use the saunas and showers for free. They'll give you bathrobes and slippers and serve cucumber water. Delish! I didn't get a massage but I would if I came back.
